An excellent charger that works very well
This charger may be inexpensive but it's actually a really good deal for the price. It provides two charging outputs based on the number of inserted batteries. 1-4 batteries: 500mAh | 5-8: 250mAhIf I'm in need of a quicker charge I'll just insert 1-4 and the charging times are half the time of 5-8 batteries. The charging time depends on the capacity of your NiMH batteries. I use 2800mAh AA and 1100mAh AAA EBL high capacity LSD (Low Self Discharge) batteries with this device.I find the output current acceptable and preferable. The higher the current you put into batteries when charging the more damage is done over time and they'll be much hotter during charging - contributing to even more damage. Lower currents, or trickle charging batteries, will allow them to reach their full rated cycle count. While it seems inconvenient to have to wait hours to charge, just remember that it's worth the wait in saved batteries.I'm not sure what the "damaged" battery fix feature does. We don't currently have any "damaged" batteries and the manual states this feature is only for batteries that were deeply discharged beyond the acceptable limits. I guess if this ever happens to us we'll see if that mode actually does anything. This charger heats up a good bit when charging batteries. Keep it on a solid surface to allow the heat to dissipate better. Don't place it on your carpet. Put it on a table or something with good airflow. What I do to compensate for the longer charging times is to have enough batteries on hand that I always have some ready and charged to swap into my devices while I charge the depleted ones. It's common and easy to find LSD (Low Self Discharge) NiMH batteries and I highly recommend people only purchase batteries with low self discharge. For the brand of batteries we use, EBL, we find that the claimed discharge over time is accurate. We use our batteries and swap them often enough that we don't know what that figure would be over very long time frames, but it will vary based on brand and quality.I highly recommend EBL batteries with this charger. They have some of the highest capacities available and a 1,200 cycle count which is above average for their capacity. Well worth the cost and they don't cost much more than cheapo ones. I expect them to last close to the claimed 1,200 cycles, partly thanks to the low charging currents offered by this charger. You can check and measure capacity and charge level with a multi-meter and some electronics knowledge (which I have).Overall this charger is great! Word of caution: don't keep the batteries inserted for long periods of time after they complete charging. A few hours or waiting overnight to take them out isn't a big deal breaker. But don't leave them in their for days or weeks on end. This charger is not designed to handle that and could lead to damage or reduced cycle count. This is also clearly laid out in the manual. My only complaint with this charger is that it heats up quite a bit when charging, especially if charging 8 AA at once. Other than that the smart chip feature appears to be real and works very well.

Very Good Battery Chargers 👌🏽
These AA/AAA rechargeable battery chargers work very well, I bought a 2nd one! Great price. The thing that sets these apart from many other chargers is you don't have to charge in pairs or fours. Many work that way and cannot charge one battery or an uneven number. It is a bit slow when using a USB port. There is no yellow indicator to show charging progress, so the led lights go from red right to green, but that's not a problem. These are so easy and simple to use! Recommend 👍🏼

Nice charging unit for AA and AAA batteries
This item works as expected. I like that you can charge one battery instead of having to charge them in pairs. The unit does not come with a wall plug, but it does come with a USB charging cord.

Works to a degree - see review
I do like the features this charger offers such as independent charging slots; charging multiple size batteries (but doesn't allow for 'mixed' brands - we can't seem to get on the same sheet when it comes to battery manufacturing either). That said my dilemma with this charger is: I'm not sure 'who to blame', the manufacturer of this charger, that of the Digital brand battery, both or, myself. I have 8, AA, 2000mAh, Ni-mH, standard charge = 14+ hrs, rapid charge = 4+ hrs, batteries which are at least 10 years old, a possible "myself" inclusive factor, that this charger indicates as "non-chargeable, short circuited or just plan bad". However, my old Digital CH-3975 rapid charger charged them, even the ones that indicated zero volts on my battery tester, to 1.4v according to my TRONIC battery tester. While currently not under a heavy load the batteries are working but this charger still won't recognize them. I question if the new charger's 'chip' is overly sensitive compared to older chargers. I also have Hybrid brand AAA's, 4 of the 8 were 'dead', from the same era. This charger charged all 8 with no issues. All that said, if anyone has an educated input please hit me with it. I've read 'expert' data which seems to point to 'computer chips' for 'my' dilemma.

Great NiMh battery charger.
These are very good NiMh battery chargers. I have purchased several in the last couple years. They work great.

Problem Resolved !
UPDATE... Customer Service reached out and the problem has been resolved!! I'm thrilled because I really do like this charger! I am changing review to 5 stars.Thank you Powerowl for your help.(Initial Review) Charging batteries for holiday decorations today and the charging lights are flashing. Flashing indicates circuit problem or completely dead battery. I plugged it into various outlets...all with same flashing. Then, I put the same batteries into a different brand charger and the fully charged light went on as it should have after charging was completed. No error signal in alternate brand charger. Hmmmm. Conclusion:This battery charger which I used last holiday and occasionally throughout year is malfunctioning.Very disappointed. The charger is not even a year old.

Good charger
Battery grip for my Nikon D750 Arrived today. Bought this charger & batteries for photography. Have not yet used it taking pictures. Did a functions test. The grip fits right and tightens properly. I decided to test rechargeable batteries. The battery charger charged the batteries quickly and powers the camera well enough for my test. I will try to give an update on the performance in a few days. I will say that a wall adapter is needed to charge the batteries properly and quickly. Using a USB port in an outlet was too slow and may take hours to charge. I recommend using quality batteries such as Energizer, Duracell, Eneloop.
