While the butterfly xt was a good yoyo to regain my interest in the hobby
I recently started to yo-yo again after finding a duncan imperial in the checkout line at the Naval Exchange. After a few hours of using the the imperial I decided I wanted to get a more advanced yo-yo and went back and found a duncan butterfly xt and attempted to relearn some basic tricks from my youth. After watching a multitude of trick tutorials and buyers guides I decided I wanted a higher quality yo-yo that I could learn the basics again, but also upgrade to play different styles once I became more experienced. It became evident that Yoyofactory is one the most popular brands with a wide selection of yoyos for every experience level, style of play, budget, and materials. After I received the DV888 I immediately knew I made the right choice. While the butterfly xt was a good yoyo to regain my interest in the hobby, the DV888 has allowed for more complex tricks due to its awesome sleep time, going to a 6061 aluminum yoyo from plastic feels like night and day. The quality is evident from the moment you hold the yoyo. As my skills progress the DV888 will progress with me. Yoyofactory produces a kit to covert this yoyo to a unresponsive play type for around $10 which will be handy as learn more tricks. Overall for the price this is a great for a yoyo of this quality and expandability.

Eh.
It’s not bad. It’s not great however and for the price one can argue it’s not doing itself any favors. At 30 bucks we’re talking about some rather nice alternatives to the dv888. If you’re willing to go used you can pick up even better pieces! I got a YYF Singularity for that price and that is a top end, high performance bi-metal. This is just an old yo-yo being sold for modern prices. I’ve been critical so far but I will say it’s not bad. A bit weird and dangerous as a responsive and not extremely stable as an unresponsive, it’s not bad, it’s just weird. If you want this to be a real performer, there are better in the price range, even from YoYoFactory themselves. If you want something laid back and small, guess what, there are still better, again, even from YoYoFactory themselves. If you can pick these up cheap then they’re fine little beater yo-yos but as it sits, it’s not a performance beast, it’s not the perfect pocket throw, it’s not even particularly something you will say “wow” to. It’s just “eh”.

Excellent to play again.....after 30 yrs ;)
Wanted a yoyo as a fidget/stress reliever. It also brings back some great memories from grade school and such. The yoyo is significantly smaller than the ones I used to play. Nothing wrong with that, it will take me some time to catch up but that is the idea anyways. It is responsive, meaning if you are a beginner, when you throw it and you pull up the your palm again, the yoyo will come back to your hand. The quality is excellent. Aluminum, very light, great color. It also comes with an added line, in case you break the first one. I am watching beginner videos in you tube, there are plenty of them.

Great yoyo. Spins for a very long time- about 40 seconds if thrown hard. Spins for minutes if you put the unresponsive bearing on it. Very durable. It's hit the hard floor a few times and ceiling once and no dings or anything. Very easy to take apart. I had to screw the middle screw in a bit with an allen wrench when I first got it because it wobbled a bit, but it doesn't wobble at all after tightening it. Best yo yo I've seen. I'm thinking about buying another to do two handed looping tricks. When you buy this yo yo buy some extra strings because you'll want to use it all the time and the strings will eventually wear out.

Small yoyo, good for beginners.
I wanted a semi-responsive yoyo I could use somewhat reflexively when I walking to work or something. This yoyo was perfect for that purpose. It is a little small imo but I guess that kinda fits with the targeted audience of beginners. The material quality is great. If you buy and become attached to it you can also easily convert it to non-responsive play once you get better.

Pretty much useless as delivered
bearing hardly spins. It has surface rust all over it, and if I take it out and spin it on a pencil or bearing too, it maybe spins once around, if that. Pretty much useless as delivered.I got a replacement, and the 2nd one also has rust on the bearing, and the bearing is garbage. If I could give this less stars I would. Fool me twice? Well, I'm taking a refund from this. If you want a responsive metal yoyo under~$40, save your money and go get a Drifter instead.
