No support with lifting, but good stability and support for the "apron" of obesity. A plus is with the Velcro it is adjustable and has not "rolled" on me. I hope this helps.

If this helps, my waist is 36" but with my herniated abdomen I'm 46" at the navel. The 2XL fits me perfectly. Right now it may be stretched a little bit, I've worn it literally every day, 8-16 hours for a year but right now it measures 46 inches in length and when worn very tightly it over laps by 14 inches.

The add accurately states 12 inches. I am 5'8" tall. The binder hits right at my belt line and extends to the lowest point of my sternum.
