There are many malas but this has a proper beats bag. It has two opening, one big for your hand, a small one where you can stick your index finger out when your right hand is in the bag. (not ripped as another comment suggested.) Then when you chant, you hold the beat with your thump and middle finger and go back and forth until you move to the next beat. Best not to touch the Guru beat. But again, the bag is hard to find.

This is perfect and exactly what I needed to continue my spiritual journey. Thank you!

I love the bag that comes with it. I keep the beads and matras in there. I like it so much bought another one for my son.

Great for the price. The other seller listed here on Amazon whom is offering the more elaborate bead bags seems unreliable and more than a little bit untrustworthy (judging form the reviews). You'll at least get what you expect here. Excellent back-up set of beads. I keep this set in the car, as I always chant the HARE KRSNA MAHA-MANTRA when I drive. As a critique, I will say that the hole where you insert your hand is kind of small, but I'm a BIG guy so that probably won't be a problem with most of the people whom will buy this product.

This is a beautifully crafted mala for using when doing japa. The mala has a nice soft feeling to it!
