LOVE THESE - You'll need 8 AA Batteries + a Micro SD card. SIM Cards are Built-In.
I'm not a hunter. I have this inside my house. It is a house that is far away and I don't get to go there very often. Someone recently broke in and wiped me out. Dishes, glasses, small appliances, furniture, antiques, lamps, chandeliers, mirrors, decorations, EVERYTHING. There is some furniture left, and I know they are coming back for it, so I put one of these cameras inside so I can see them the minute they kick the door in again.I had to run to W@lmart for eight AA batteries. I got the regular ones, not the crazy expensive ones. I got home with the batteries, but I had missed the part about needing a micro SD card. I went right back to the store for that, but they were sold out, so I was aggravated that I had to wait to complete this setup. These items should be written in NEON BOLD TYPE so that the buyer can be ready for setup the minute the Amazon truck pulls away. (By the way, why didn't SpyPoint trying to up-sell me on these additional purchases? Hmmm. An opportunity missed.) Make sure you get a MICRO SD card rather than the regular size. After I waited for the micro SD to arrive from Amazon, I installed the SpyPoint app on my android and starting setting up this camera. I have never owned anything like this, and it was still pretty easy to find my way around in the app. I have the camera set for two notifications: 1) motion, with immediate notification so I can call 911 right away, and 2) send me a picture every day at 6 pm. Since I am far away, the daily picture lets me know that the camera is live and functioning.I don't have wifi at my house, so this camera was perfect because it works off of a cellular signal. The cellular sim cards are built in and they will use the signal that is strongest at the location of the camera. I think they scan multiple carriers like AT&T, Verizon, etc. for the strongest signal. There is no extra charge for this.Another bonus is that you get 100 photos per month transmitted to you via the app on your phone for free. If you run out, you can either wait until the new month rolls around, or you can buy a package with more photo transmissions for something like $5 per month. In the app, you can see cellular signal strength, battery percentage, how many photos you've received, and how many days left in your 30-day photo cycle. My camera has been sending me one photo a day for a little over a month and I'm still at 78% battery. You can also ask it for videos, but I didn't need that, and I need my batteries to last as long as possible. Also, some cameras are so sensitive that the sunlight/shadows moving thoughout the day can sometimes trigger motion. I didn't want my batteries to run out because they were videoing that! I have received no false motion alerts. It was the free 100 photos per month that made me zero in on this camera. Then, since I needed these cameras for tracking humans, not deer, this next feature made the sale for me: These cameras have GPS.If the thief comes back into my house, I HOPE he steals this camera. Besides instantly receiving a picture of the thief's face via the SpyPoint app, I'll call both SpyPoint and the police and report the camera stolen. SpyPoint will then track the location of the camera and coordinate directly with local police. I believe their system even lets the "next" owner re-set up the camera on their phone, the thief might even buy the $5/mo subscription, and for any camera that SpyPoint knows is stolen, they will relay the "new owner" info to the police in addition to the GPS info.Oh, I REALLY hope the pigs come back and steal this camera.

Great cell camera for the price
First time using spypoint cell cameras but had to try it for the price. I've used many other brands ( more expensive) but after using this spypoint im really happy and would buy this over the others. Pictures are nice and clear day and night, trigger speed is fast. all pictures were taken right as the animal entered the frame so 3 burst would actually get you 3 pictures of the animal. Nice and compact, setup with app was easy and the best part is you get 100 pics a month free, no other brand gives you that. Battery life seems good so far. It does take the micro SD card not the full size so that may be a draw back for some. and the threaded hole is on the back of the camera instead of the bottom. Not a big deal for me cause I always just strap these to a tree, and lastly i did notice that the speed of the notification to your phone when the camera takes a pic is a little slower than my other brands usually takes about 40-60 seconds but not a big deal to me. overall very happy with the camera performance and price

Camera 4/5 App 3/5 Service 3/5
I have owned these cameras for about 4 months and I also purchased the lithium batter packs for these as well. I used both throughout the previous NorthEast Deer season with absolutely no issue with either camera. And both never need to be recharged throughout the season. The transmission plans send a downgraded quality of pictures to your phone, and you can pay a little extra to have higher resolution pics sent, I chose not to and had zero issue with identifying what was on my camera including positively identifying Trespassers on posted property. But the cameras also store the high resolution pictures on an SD card and function like any other trail cam whether you use a Cellular plan or not and I really like that feature. The build quality/durability of these cameras seem solid, no issues with moisture or sun glare or anything. My only gripe with the actual camera is the door to access the controls and memory card can be quite difficult to open when mounted on a tree with a strap or stand off mount. I often had to remove the camera and apply quite a bit of pressure to open the door which is fine when they are near the ground but I often mount my cameras high in a tree so this was a bit annoying. I also had one SD card completely die in of the cameras, not sure if it was card issue or camera issue but worth noting as I have many of these same cards and never had a failure so for those reasons im giving the Camera a 4/5The App itself is a 4/5. I really like it over all compared to other companies apps, especially Moultrie. Very easy to navigate through settings and functions and for an inexpensive camera, I didn't expect a lot but it actually has a quite robust feature set as compared to Moultrie. I would choose these over my Moultrie Edge any day, the Edge has a slight advantage in picture quality but really nothing else. It would be nice if you could choose and pay for plans via the App, but you need to goto there website via a browser to do that, seems a little odd to me in this day and age. Overall, again pretty happy with app and how it is set up.Lastly, customer service 3/5I have 2 of these cameras, one is used year round, the other as needed. I pay an annual fee for the main camera for year round use, no issue there. The other camera I do monthly as i use it in the off season to monitor construction site traffic. I started noticing weird charges to my bank account monthly but sometimes would be charged twice in a month. After talking with my bank and doing research myself we were unable to identify who was charging me so I chose to close the account. Then and only then I started recieving emails from Spypoint saying they were unable to charge my account. The cameras are supposed to default back to a free plan when no other plan is chosen but they kept trying to charge me even though I put the camera back on the free plan. This has been going on since October when I purchased the cameras. The email the sent me had a link for support, followed the link, wrote a lengthly email explaing things, only to get a an automated email back saying the dont offer email support please go to our website. Lost a star right there.Contacted the live support Via their website, which is 24/7 so thats nice., explained everything, found the issue and resolved it very quickly. Great, however, when I tried to explain to them I wasn't receiving receipts for charges they were trying to make and also there charges are Identified correctly to the bank they basically said its my fault for choosing, by accident, the auto renewal monthly plan via their website. I have to problem paying for something I did whether I wanted it or accidently chose it, but if they sent some sort of Invoice and receipt stating why I was being charged, I could taken care of this without having to close a bank account. So their billing/service needs some work for sure.Overall I would recommend these cameras.
