Excellent Beginner Book!
Excellent book! Fun, simple short stories covering a wide gamut of topics with plenty of vocabulary and verb tenses. Appreciate the English translations, vocabulary review, and comprehension questions (with answers). Further, there are free MP3 files available for download. The MP3s are in clear, slow French. Quite the bargain!

Well-suited to the advertised level.
My only complaint is the same one I have for most textbooks of this type: Stories composed in, say, French are recomposed into, say, English stories. What I prefer are literal translations. That is, French stories rendered into English words and phrases and damn how awkward a literal English translation may sound.I think your stories are well-suited to American-college French 2 or 3. You’ve avoided esoteric idioms and you don’t go on tangents that break up your well-constructed lessons.I expect that you’ve considered offering literal translations but have intentionally chosen French-prose-to-English-prose, being motivated by the very-French notion of égalité. I.e., you want students to feel confident” about their potential in French because “French and English are very similar” (fraternité?).My preference would the “line-by-line” translations but for now they are either decidedly or intermittently beyond my present abilities. I believe that format will someday let me reinforce my future vocabulary and grammar.I hope that you will experiment with line-by-line translations of essays written by you. Much of French-language teaching in America is focused on food, travel, and fine arts. I would like some French history, science, warfare, technology, industry, cars, sports, film reviews, exploration, romance, music, politics, news, etc. Of course I could look it all up in either English or too-advanced-for-me French but I would enjoy exploring these topics in instructional French by you and, maybe, with line-by-line translation.BTW: I live in New York City and we are currently experiencing an unprecedented immigration of Haitians—also French speaking West and North Africans. They are all delightful and hard-working people who very much want to be assimilated. I hope that before that happens we can solidly establish French as NYC’s third language. This is the reason I’ve gone back to studying French. If anyone reading this message could teach French in NYC I hope you will come here.Gary Beachum MD649 E 14th St., 2-DNY NY 10009

Excellent resource
In retirement I'm trying to keep a well functional brain and study various things for that (and for enjoyment). I took French in Junior HS (a thousand years ago give or take) and have been revisiting it. The Perfect French with Dylane is a fantastic resource for learning. Mrs. Moreau has several courses and each has a lot of YouTube videos and audio to help. This is a collection of short stories that will absolutely help with your comprehension. The stories are short little slices of life so the vocabulary is very useful for everyday interactions. Each one has the story in French, then English,an audio of the French, vocabulary words and questions to help you gauge your understanding. This is a fun and very accessible way to improve your French. Highly recommend. I'm definitely getting a few more of her books/courses.
