Super interesting
Excellent, informative, well-written book that really goes into who the Wings drafted and why. Tons of terrific details about all the picks, and why the Wings missed out on some key ones over the years. First chapter on Stevie Y was superb. Can’t recommend it highly enough. Super interesting. Perfect gift idea.

Thorough history
Great read. Tons of details about who the Wings drafted & why, not just about the players but the scouts and managers, too. Really thorough history. First chapter (on Stevie Y) is amazing. Great if you need a gift for a fan.

Middling, at best
While I appreciated some of the historical detail, overall, I found the text to be repetitive and devoid of any coherent organization.

I was wrong
When I thought that Helene St. James couldn’t top her book “The Big 50”, I was wrong. And I loved that book. But “On the Clock” is just a little better. A great read with excellent analysis.

Terrific, insightful book
Highly readable, information flows easily, gives excellent insight into how important drafting is and how it rebuilt the Red Wings after they were known as the Dead Wings. Tons of details.

Fabulous book
What a great book. Highly recommend. So many stories, interviews, behind-the-scenes stuff, and fun tidbits (lol at 9 to 5). Author really delves into the details. If you're a Wings fan, this is a must read. Going to buy copies to give as gifts.
