Great Refresher
It has been many years since I have played the flute. I bought this book as a refresher. It contains a fingering chart which was very helpful. It has been helpful in picking back up the flute. I do not think this would be a good book for someone first learning to play the flute if they don't have previous musical experience with reading music and theory.

Great book to start with
Recommended to me by a flute instructor. The fingering chart is very helpful. Now, if only I can find time to practice.

Probably a good instruction booklet,
I have played brass valve instruments for almost 60 years, but more recently decided to learn the piccolo after being gifted one a couple of years back. I did not understand many of the finger position charts in the Rubank book. But, that may be because of my lack of previous woodwind experience. I had the booklet in my car when I had an accident during which my car wound up in a 4-foot deep patch of mud. The floors had about 6 inches of mud and water in them, totalling the car and the flute/piccolo instruction booklet. I must purchase a new one and will consider others. But, I also might buy another copy of this one. It's probably pretty good.

Perfectly challenging for a beginner.
I played the French Horn in high school. I've been missing music so I decided to teach myself the flute. The Rubank book is great. I also bought the same elementary method boo we used in grade school band. The Rubank is actually challenging me enough to move through the other book faster. You can tell the Rubank is prepping you for playing solo pieces.

Rubank - best book to learn rudiments and fundamentals
I am a music teacher and give private lessons. I have used the RUBANK METHOD SERIES for 40 years. I started with it as a young student myself. It is as good now as it was then for the fundamentals. Best method book on the market. Other books are filled with songs/tunes that students are familiar with and the problem with that is they play by rote- meaning they play it the way they know the tune and don’t learn to “count” it as written. No fundamentals. Stuck with Rubank
