Just what you need if you want an overall overview
Robert does a great job with giving the reader a roundabout knowledge of the penetration testing world. From the tools to the terminology used throughout the book, it's a great guide for someone looking at getting into penetration testing. The book covers a variety of information security concepts, such as malware, exploits, man in the middle, DoS, etc.In order to be successful in defending an organization, you should be able to put yourself into the mindset of an adversary, and this book goes over several tools you can use to achieve this. One major thing that jumped out at me was the fact that Robert talks about writing up reports and making recommendations after you perform a pentest, and this is a huge fact that is overlooked by many people. Major kudos for this.I will definitely keep this book as a reference for myself and my team members!

Very happy with this
Great stuff!I am not the most tech savvy person and moreover, I admit to my intimidation with the subject. Cybercrime is not new to me; however protection from cybercrime and how to properly secure my systems (especially my information) is unfamiliar territory. I am not an IT professional by any means, which is why I thought it would make sense to buy Penetration Testing for Dummies to keep everything simple. The author, Robert Shiminski certainly breaks down the information in simple terms.I learned about the different hackers and the different attacks on my system from denial of service to buffer overflow attacks, to fragmentation attacks, to malware, but more to the point, I learned how to protect my information from hackers.I have a small business and budget to follow. This book taught me how to navigate through my system and protect my vulnerabilities.Great and informative read for sure!Really happy with my purchase

An awesome guide to Pen Testing and ethical hacking
Robert Shimonski expertly details the "ins and outs" of pen testing with this book. He provides clear and concise instruction aided by screen captures of tools such as Wireshark, Nessus, Kali Linux, and Nmap. Robert goes over how each tool is utilized in the process of penetration testing and ethical hacking.A must-have! This is one of the best books out there for those who are new to pen testing and serves as an excellent refresher for anyone who has been trained or certified in ethical hacking.

A Dummies Review of Penetration Testing!
In the past, I used to have issues with countless desktops and software issues requiring outside assistance and dollars spent. Not only does author Robert Shimonski make understanding penetration testing simple, but now I can use this as a reference to do pen testing or learning of hacking.I fully support!!

Lots of stuff but not useful
The book is not hands-on practice type. It’s like a Wikipedia page about pen-testing. There are other good books. I wouldn’t get this!
