Nice addition to my SUV with weak headlights.
WEAK headlights in my 2024 Kia Sportage. No more. Now I can see at night! Easy install, good directions made it a breeze. When aimed properly oncoming traffic is not bothered by them.

A great kit for a classic look!
I recently helped add a bull bar to an '03 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. We wanted some simple “old school” offroad/driving lights, and this HELLA kit fit the bill. The kit comes with (almost) everything needed to complete the install. The instructions are OK, but if you aren’t very experienced with automotive electrical systems or are simply a bit nervous about completing the install yourself, having someone around with that experience is helpful. In this case, I was the “experienced” guy helping my little brother install this kit on his Jeep. The kit includes all the necessary hardware for installation. However, I needed some additional 16/18 gauge wire to make a successful run from power to the switch as well as ground to the switch. The kit provides a method to connect these to your high-beam for switching or to use the provided switch. We opted for the manual switch. This is simply due to the location of the fuse block in the Jeep to the driver’s side firewall (fuse block is on the Passenger side in the far front). I had the wire and soldered in the extensions of wire though you can use crimps if you desired.Total installation took about 2 hours as I was having my brother do most of the work with my instruction when needed.I also recommend buying some split loom corrugated tubing from Amazon. There are a few options out there. It allows you to effectively “hide” your wiring runs from the lights to the engine bay as well as the runs to the switch. This coupled with some zip-ties gives you a much cleaner look for instances where your wiring would be exposed. The lights are bright, and once adjusted, threw a great beam down the road. These aren’t meant for consistent driving use; you will annoy/blind other drivers (and probably get a ticket if Officer Friendly catches you driving around with these on). But for dark roads country roads, offroad, or adverse conditions (when you’d use high beams) these are a great supplement. The kit includes white covers/shields, though we purchased the HELLA Protective Grill Covers (also from Amazon) to leave on full time.Definitely a recommended kit if you want that “classic” non-LED look.

Pretty good lights
So, I did my research before buying these things, so I had a little list of expectations when I went to use them for the first time. These lights are very good and actually performed better than I expected, although not as good as they could be.Lets start with shipping and packaging first. Shipping to me, felt like it was a day late, but Amazon actually expected it to be delivered on the day it was delivered, to I can't complain too much. Im used to deliveries showing up early, so this was a little surprising to me, but again, it wasn't actually late. The shipping box these lights come in are twice the size of the Hella box. I guess that is meant for vehicles planning to use a four-light set-up for offroading and need two sets of these lights. Regardless, I feel like they could have shipped in a smaller box for my one set, but again, not a complaint. Just an observation. The setup was pretty painless. The most frustrating part of the entire setup was trying to find a way to mount these lights on my '03 Subaru Legacy without drilling into the bumper. The wiring harness was very simple and probably could've been done without the use of the "instructions", which are horrible anyway. They give you a general diagram, and the text says "run leads", which is too general, and not helpful at all unless you look at the diagram. Yes, the colors are mentioned in the diagram, but if you are new to wiring, it is a lot of unnecessary piecing together to understand it.*Also, side note while im talking about wiring - When you install these lights, DO NOT attach the ground wires to your negative battery terminal. You'll most likely blow a fuse, especially if you have your lights on when you start your car. There are probably some of you who have this set-up and it works just fine, but I strongly advise new buyers to ground to the chassis. I did and popped my chassis a little already, which is good, because I would've blown a fuse if I were hooked into my negative terminal.Back to set-up. They provide more wire than you need, except in the 12v red wire, which I had to add my own length, but no big deal. It's in part to me mounting the relay on my passenger side. I also wired my lights without a switch directly into the high beams (by connecting the yellow cable that was supposed to go to the switch directly to my high beam wire in my passenger side light) and it works without flaw.Actually adjusting the lights is pretty painless. Just some nuts and bolts. The lights stay pretty tight, but can still be moved with quite a bit of force. This is a plus for me because I like to adjust my lights on the road so I can get the perfect beam to suit me. The lights themself are the Hella H3 standard bulbs. They are yellowish and a little underwhelming, but im sure replacing them with Silverstar bulbs will fix that problem right away.My only concern is one of the lights fogged up when it got extremely humid, so the seal wasn't completely perfect, but its alright. It cleared up, and the other light was fine. And it was obnoxiously humid. I might change the seal in it one day, but im not that worried at the moment. Overall, great lights!

Only one problem
These lights are great. But do yourself a favor and buy a “light bar wiring harness” the wiring kit they send is a joke it wants you to splice into the vehicles high beams and wire lengths are way to short. You don’t have to buy another wire harness but it saves a lot more time and head ache and in my application i couldn’t tie into the high beams because my high beams didn’t work witch is the reason I was adding the lights in the first place. Aside from the junk wiring hardware the lights are nice and bright and look great

Hella internal bulb support
These Halogen auxillary lights were pretty good for the first three years; from 11/21 my jeep was parked on the back yard patio. While getting it ready to run this past week, I noticed the chrome de-laminating and water inside. I took them apart and found the steel bulb backing all rusted, badly. I recommend anyone purchasing these lights to take them apart and lightly seal them.
