Bought this dust buster last month. I'm very happy with this purchase. I use it to keep a bed bound relative's room neat and clean. Easily picks up debry . It's light weight and easy to use and empty. Once the battery is charged, I remove the charger from the outlet. The Lithium ion battery should not be plugged in for more than 24 hours. The blue light will turn off when fully charged. Read the instruction booklet for clear "how to" steps and pictures.

Only got this reassuringly hefty (but easy to handle) hand-vac today, and though I knew it needed to be charged first, I had to do a quick test with the existing amount of factory charge it had, just to see how well it worked. I was very impressed. Even as the couple of moments of charge was running down, it still managed to pick up more rogue cat litter, pet hair and assorted fluff from my area rug than my relatively new (and already retired) Shark hand-vac. The Shark suction was so pathetic that it couldn't even hold bits of lightweight cat litter -- the litter granules would fall back out of the vacuum as I was using it. In order to get assistance with product issues, Shark customer service requires that you provide them with a video of their sub-par appliance in action (more like inaction), and I couldn't be bothered, so I just put it back in its box. But this Black & Decker model is so impressive that I'm not even annoyed that I just wasted fifty-something dollars on the Shark model so shamefully lacking in suction power that it can't handle anything more challenging than a dust-bunny.Though very powerful, this B & D model is relatively quiet, and the filter collection/emptying/cleaning is superior. This vacuum also feels built to last, and even though it's a bit heavier than the useless Shark model, its handle makes it easy to hold and maneuver, and being able to change the nozzle angle is genius. I watch "America's Test Kitchen" regularly, and I have them to thank for recommending this Black & Decker model -- I only wish they'd filmed their hand vacuum test episode before I wasted money on the anemic Shark model I bought just a few months ago. But the consolation is that this B & D vacuum is amazingly effective and even fun to use.I may update this review once I've used it for a while, but I'm sure I'll have only good things to report, bearing in mind the helpful warnings from other reviewers to be careful with the hinges so they don't break.

FINALLY!!!!!! THIS IS THE BEST THING I HAVE PURCHASED IN YEARS!!!!!! I use this product multiple times a day. I've referred a number of people to this product. Skip the cheaper products and brands because this one does the trick in every category! Great product Black & Decker. You live up to your brand and reputation!!!! Worth every penny!!!!

I've been buying this model dustbuster when it was first came out with nickelcadian batteries. Now that they're lithium ion that's even better. More powerful and the battery seems to last for years. I'll buy a second one just so I have one in the living room and my bedroom. I have another quite expensive Black & Decker model that's got a thinner snorkel that's best for my car. I recommend that one as well here's the model number HHVK515J00FF. They sell that here on Amazon as well. I tried to buy them used which means someone tested it, didn't like it for some bizarre reason, packed it up and returned it. So they're basically brand new for often a substantial discount... as much as $20 or more!Locate here on Amazon and buy a spare filter. You'll be wanting to clean the filter just about every time you empty it. The filter clogs up VERY quickly with fine dust.The filter takes forever to dry, so I always have a spare filter right next to the charger that I pop in after I've washed everything.Use dish soap and scalding hot water to clean the filter. Rinse it thoroughly let it air dry. It takes forever to dry, but since you have a spare filter, it's no big deal.

My third one. The other 2 are still working after several years of use still holding a charge and powerful suction. Strong enough to suck up not only crumbs and sand/dirt on the floor but also house flies and ladybugs off the windows. Keep one in bedroom, bathroom and kitchen.

I bought mine 2 years ago, and I have used it daily in my kitchen for picking up crumbs from countertops and drawers. And now, I am here to purchase a second one for my garden room. The suction is far superior to my wand/tools on both my Dyson upright and Dyson V15 stick. Maintenance is easy. And the vac is super durable (I've dropped it numerous times on my hard floor). Hm, I'm surprised that this item doesn't have a higher rating.
