Buy It!
Old Stihl 034 av: I looked at so many chinese replacements ....I was very skeptical. The fit (4 screw not 3 screw) was superb and the recoil mechanism seems pretty well constructed. I v'e only started the saw a few times but I'm happy. Also, the Stihl original recoil cover was plastic with 1 pawl - this replacement is cast metal and the recoil mechanism has 2 pawls.So far, I gotta give this 5 stars. Just make sure it's the same bolt pattern.

Great part for home owner repair on a budget
My brother has an 034 Sthil saw and the starter pawls failed after many years of service .He took it to a local service center and they gave him an estimate of over $100 to repair it . He was considering a new saw until I told him I could get him this Hiform replacement part for around $20 . He was thrilled at the price but doubtful that the part would be any good . I ordered it for him and when it arrived we had it on the saw and the saw running in under 15 minutes . Admittedly it is not as heavy a part as the old one and probably won't last 10 yr.s or more like the original ,but it is working well and at a fraction of what a 'repair' would have cost much less a new saw . This part probably wouldn't hold up to use by loggers or tree trimmers but for home owner use it is great and not hard on the budget .

It worked perfect for my chainsaw. Wish it had a logo but I’m sure that would be infringement lol.

Coil spring and pull cord are made with weak materials
The housing of the unit seems strong and sturdy compared to the old one but the pull cord is made with weak material which broke on the second day of use. Also the coil spring broke after I replaced the pull cord which was not surprising as it seemed weak to while I was replacing thd pull cord. It was bought to replace the starter cover on a stihl 034 saw

Fits Stihl 034 AV
Bought this for a Stihl 034AV which I could not get parts for. Visually the cover is not shaped the same at the top front, but it does fit perfectly. Quality seems good, will know more as time goes.
