Button top only
So far the v2.0 is an amazing light. It is super bright and has a really good throw. Fit and finish is excellent, as it is with all my fenix lights. I love the feel of the tail switch. The only down side I can see is that they have removed the spring on the head of the light (probably to accommodate newer 18650s with built in micro usb charging). Now you must use a button top 18650 in the light. This won't bother some people but I have a ton of flat top 18650s that I can't use in my new light. I don't remember seeing any information about this change anywhere.

Highly recommended as everyday use or mounting on tactical rifle or shotgun...even a cannon if you own one. Works great with my 12 gauge shotgun. I have several skunks in the spring and summer. Being able to have the light mounted to my shotgun makes it much easier to keep the area lite while dispatching the critters. My only thoughts about this light that might be construed as negative is that it does not come with a battery. I purchased two batteries and the charger separately. Don't know how well the charger works as the battery I currently have in it (the Fenix 18650 ARB-L2S 3400mAh rechargeable battery) that is recommended has many hours to go before it gets close to recharging. The time charts on the Fenix sight will give you the straight skinny on the hour life of the battery in each mode of intensity.Great light for tactical long guns and every day use.

I did a abnormal amount of research on high end flashlights when I bought the pd35. I use it heavily everyday and I still couldn't be more satisfied that I spent the extra money for a quality flash light. The holster that's provided is pretty poor quality and will not hold up to heavy use. The light itself is worth every penny. Great job, Fenix! I liked the buttons and placement better on this edition. Highly recommend this exact model however it will stand on the back to point up. The button is a fraction too long.

A great flashlight.
I already have a couple of PD35 Version 2.0 flashlights that I bought over a year ago. I wanted two more of the same version, and that's what I ordered. However, Amazon incorrectly shipped me two each of the PD35 version 3.0. This gave me the opportunity to compare the two versions side by side. I don't own any equipment that allows me to technically measure lumen output or color temperature. Therefore, my comments are based on what I've observed with my own eyes.Length: The version 3.0 is very slightly shorter in length (5.3" versus 5.4" for the Version 2.0).Brightness: Fenix specifies that the PD35 V3.0 produces a whopping 1,700 lumens in the Turbo mode, versus only 1,000 lumens for V2.0. However, in my side by side comparisons (using a pair of fully-charged 3,500 mAh batteries, Fenix brand type 18650), V3.0 looks only slightly brighter to my eyes in real-world use. I don't doubt the published specifications supplied by Fenix. But if you already own V2.0 of this flashlight, and you're thinking of upgrading to V3.0 because you believe it's going to be substantially brighter, I think you'll be disappointed.Lighting Color: The PD35 V2.0 has a very slight reddish or pinkish tint. V3.0 looks very slightly green. To my eyes, neither version looks pure white. At least they don't look blue. I can't stand flashlights that have a bluish tint.Spotlight: Each flashlight has a concentrated focus of light in the center of the beam (a center spotlight). The spotlight is a little larger on the V3.0 than the V2.0. I don't think there's enough of a difference to really matter.Run Times: This really isn't important to me. Refer to Fenix or one of the reviewers online if you need actual run times to the minute. It's important to note that if you look at the specifications for the Turbo mode, you'll see that the lumen output drops significantly after ten minutes of use (this is typical of all LED flashlights). In real-world use, I find the Turbo mode to be overkill most of the time. Using a setting that's less bright provides me with all the light I need. And as you'd expect, the lower the brightness setting, the longer the battery lasts.Batteries: This flashlight can be powered by two types of batteries: You can use two (2) each of the type CR123A, or a single rechargeable type 18650 (I suggest the latter). The rechargeable 18650 batteries are available in different capacities (typically 2000mAh to 3600mAh). The higher the value, the longer the flashlight will run before the battery is depleted. I'm no battery expert. For more specific battery questions, call Fenix and inquire.Other features: I like the side switch. It allows you cycle through the different lighting levels (low to high). If you hold the button down, the flashlight will enter the strobe mode. Note: You turn the flashlight on and off by pressing the black rubber button on the tail (end) of the flashlight. The only drawback to this design, it that the black rubber button extends beyond the metal portion of the flashlight. This prevents the flashlight from being able to stand on its tail. At times, I've found it handy to stand a flashlight on its tail to use it as a general room or work light. To do this on the PD35, I've had to set the flashlight in an empty glass to prop it in position.Final Thoughts: I ordered V2.0. What I received was V3.0. Since I received the wrong product, I could have returned them. But I've decided to keep them. V3.0 is a little brighter. And although the lighting color of V3.0 is different than V2.0, I don't find it annoying, nor better, nor worse.I've gifted several Fenix flashlights over the years. And I've lost a couple. So far, I've never had any issues with the ones I've owned. Nor do I know anyone who thinks they make junk. In my experience their products are reliable and beautifully finished.Warranty: Go to the Fenix website for the latest info regarding the warranty on this product. By registering the product online, Fenix will extend your warranty by six months.Country of Origin: China. My opinions are my own. I did not receive a free product, payment, or any incentive for my review. Nor am I in any way associated with Fenixlight Limited.

Worked for a few months
Initially the flashlight was awesome , until we were using to hunt a spider in the living room and mid hunt it stopped working just like that ! We’ve written the company but no response , it’s a shame bc these flashlights are usually really good
