I like how little the size of the slices and it's really heavy duty very sharp

I received a bag of extra large 4" fuji apples and my old slicer couldn't do the job. In fact, the plastic handle snapped off midway through cutting. I went on a search for an all metal, extra large slicer that could do more than the standard 8 slices. This one seemed to be exactly what I wanted. I have used it around 10 times on the 4" apples and it has only snagged a couple of times due to the apple not being symmetrically shaped. I do have to apply a significant amount of force after 1/2 way through but I do believe this gadget will handle a normal size apple with ease. I am pleased with the sharpness of the blades and the sturdiness. I like that I can get smaller wedges of apples but they are not too thin.

I slice an apple every day to go with the lunch I pack for work. My last slicer worked fine, but it was made of plastic so naturally it eventually broke.Being made of metal, I suspect I won't have that problem with this one. The blades are extremely sharp and cut through without any problems at all. I've seen pictures people posted with the blades falling out, but the way they're bent at an angle and hook in, I can't imagine how that happened. I took mine apart to verify if that's how they really attach. It is.I like that the blades extend down beyond the handle, which makes slicing completely through a lot easier. However, because of how sharp the blades are, not providing a guard of some kind is a big oversight. I'm not knocking my score for it, though.My main gripe is that the center for the core is too small in diameter. No matter how perfectly centered you are, bits of the core will be on the slices and have to be cut off. If the center were just a bit bigger in diameter, this would be just about as good as you can get.A solid 8/10.

I use this product for slicing apples, and when I say apples I mean the BIG apples that are about 3 to 3-1/2 inches in diameter. First of all, the most important point I want to make is that the blades on this slicer are very, very sharp. I told my wife they're as sharp as razor blades so be very careful! But it's the sharpness of each individual blade that makes this product easy to use. This slicer will cut an apple into 12 slices and if the blades aren't as sharp as they are, you'd never be able to cut through some of the harder apples. Next, put a cutting board beneath your apple so you don't cut into your countertop surface. After you get your apple positioned on your cutting board, it's important to get the slicer aligned with the centerline of the apple core by looking down through the center of the corer. Once aligned, gently get the slicer started by just slicing through the skin. Then when you think you're centered and ready to slice, get a good grip on the slicer and, with a burst of energy, push down hard on the slicer with both hands and don't stop until you feel it hit the cutting board. If you stop, it may be hard to get it going again. Once finished, the apple slices are positioned nicely for you to pull out of the slicer and the core is positioned for easy removal too. Lastly, I carefully pull any remaining apple skin and small pieces of apple from the slicer and wash it with a hot water spray. I carefully dry the slicer with a towel from the top (sharp edges down). This is one of the greatest time savers I've seen. About a month ago, I wanted to start eating an apple a day (by slicing) and I know I wouldn't have stuck with that habit if I didn't have this device to make it so easy. I'd highly recommend this slicer!!!
