Nice Book. The encounter with Larry David is only an excuse for the rest of the story, though.
As I stated in the title of the review, the book is Ok. The story is well told, it is entertaining, it has some deep thoughts well expressed by the author and a wonderful description of the landscape and characters at Matha's Vineyard. Nevertheless if you're expecting a funny story about the author and Larry David, I must say that their encounter is just a nice excuse to probably make you interested in the book. They actually met each other and it led to a curious serie of subsequent unexpected meetings that never last more than a few minutes so this is not the core story of the book. In this sense the book title is a little missleading since it creates, in my opinion, an expectation about Larry David that the reader will never meet. For that reason I've rated the book with 3 stars even though I found the author to be an appealing character with a nice style as storyteller.

I loved this book. It made me laugh, cry and think. Oten this was happening all at the same time!
This captivating book was very inspiring to me. It's easy to tell in the first few pages it was written from the heart. I was laughing out loud on one page and reaching for a tissue the next. The story was funny and light with a deep message!I re-read Chapter 21 often. The Ted Danson Principle changed and helped me grow as a human being. I recite Paul's words, “What if I just let them simply shine their light, unencumbered by the crippling weight of my projections?" like some recite a Bible verse. Indeed, what if…?I applaud the author’s courage to share such an honest and soulful journey. I hope to return to Martha’s Vineyard someday and visit all these places!P.S. If you think this book is good! Wait till you read the sequel!

Try this weak offering if Ambien isn't doing it for your insomnia sure.
I quit reading 20 pages into it. Finding this guy's "story" boring, it wasn't what I expected at all. Worse, the type font is so small it will immediately annoy you. Reading glasses aren't the solution either, it's just hard to read. I guess the publisher wanted to squeeze the story into a thinner book and save five cents per copy on paper. What a gyp.

Entertaining Story of Self Discovery
Paul is at a point of disruption in his life. This leads him to retreat to a friendly, familiar place, also shared by his parents with whom he has a sometimes strained relationship. You will enjoy his observations about the rich and famous with whom he cavorts, along with the not so famous who find their way from homelessness to stable a stable life in a beautiful place tucked away from the everyday rush of American urban life.Paul finds himself and the experience you will share by reading this piece may guide you too.

Order now and two additional copies for your close friends...
I so enjoyed this book, the variety of characters and learning about Martha's Vineyard. Had to "wean " myself to two pages a day when I was close to the end because I did not want to let go of the magic . Luckily the author has written another book, Martha's Vineyard Miracles, an other true story. This Christmas I gave Hitchhiking with Larry David to six of my friends because I they kept hearing about how much I loved the book . It will make you laugh and you may find a lump in your throat, and tears in your eyes.

Phenomenal is not too strong a word
This review is actually difficult to write simply because I found the book to be SO AMAZING. I'm practically speechless. It's like the writer and spiritual guru of a whole new generation has arrived, or the writing gods reached down and touched Paul on the hand for this book. It is THAT good. Funny, interesting, topical...but most of all, soulful. I'm just going to stop right here because every second you spend reading this review is a second you should be reading Mr. Dolman's book.

Bookmarked the heck out of this one!
Being a huge Larry David fan I was curious about this book, but after listening to a podcast interview w the author, I knew I was going to give this one a read.So glad I did. Wonderful book, a great message, and made me feel as if I was right there on Martha's Vineyard, soaking up the sun and the valuable nuggets of wisdom.Highly recommended, especially for anyone rethinking their idea of what success and the American Dream really means. Entrepreneurs and lifestyle business devotees will love this one.

The midlife crisis of the rich and famous!
Wow is that what the rich do when they have a mid life crisis???? The 1% sure do have a rough life. Unfortunately I judged this book by its cover as I thought it would be more about Larry David then the blowhard author. Some good parts but overall not a good read.

The title is a misnomer. If you're considering this because of the implied Larry David involvement, then don't!
The title of the book implies that the author is going to regale you with tales from his adventures with Larry David, but on this basis it's being mis-sold. LD features once near the beginning when he gives Paul Dolman a short ride, but it's not much of a story on which to base an entire book.To sum up this book: Dolman spends a couple of months relaxing and thinking on Martha's Vineyard after splitting up from his girlfriend. He meets a few people, enjoys some hospitality and bumps into Larry David a few times. The End.

Disappointed
The book has nothing to offer. I still read through it partly because I have an obsession of finishing what I start and partly because I kept waiting for the book to pick up. Towards the end I persevered only so I could give an honest review. Though reading the book didn't enrich me, I do hope writing it made the author a better person. It takes courage to write and be seen.

Brilliant, delightful and original book
Brilliant, delightful and original book. If you are a fan of Larry David, you may like this. He doesn't feature too much but when he pops up it is I assume, true Larry David, and not the version he plays of himself in Curb Your Enthusiasm. First time ever I have bought this book to give to others.
