Great sword
It seems the writers below, expecting rattle and heaftiness, aren't seasoned real steel sword collectors. This sword is great, but you will read reviews of it's rediculous balance. NOT as in good rediculous. It's nearly 8" from the guard. That's blade heavier than any of my much broader bladed viking swords. My Tinker Pierce longsword had a balance of about 3" from the guard and that was a much longer blade. The Marshall sword has virtually no distal taper. This is the reason of a balance you would expect in a tomahawk or something. Now... It seems I am bashing the sword by now for sure but seriously, it feels SO good in the hand. All the big time sword collectors whine about the numbers and cry about its "unwieldlyness"? Seriously? This thing handles so well. It might just be because it weighs in at just 2 lbs 4 oz but this thing FEELS less blade heavy than my least blade heavy Ulfberht despite its balance being seriously about 8" from the hilt. The fuller is rigged like a true broadsword of the Oakeshott typology, Xa. It is historically accurate. And while not accurate in distal taper and pommel size to the original Marshall sword, it IS historically accurate for swords of that era. You will find many Albions with worst balance and distal taper and this sword is VERY wieldly. I can't explain it with numbers. Just try it out.

Modern, mass produced example of a medieval style sword
Bought this to be a wall hanging display piece but still wanted a 'real' sword. Not sure what my expectations really were as this is my first sword and I'm not a sword expert. My impression is this is a fine example of a medieval broad sword design made in a modern Chinese factory with CNC grinders, mass produced steel blanks, etc. If that makes sense? Think its a perfectly functional sword for role players and guys that make videos of themselves chopping stuff in their backyards (make sure you sharpen it first, it came with no edge).I probably should have at least spent the money and got the Damascus blade option instead. Suppose it's a decent compromise for my intended purposes.

Fantastic
This sword is amazing, I can weild it with my eyes closed and is perfect for real swordsmen. Not a worthless wall hanger. A real replica battle ready sword honouring SIr William Marshall.
