I enjoyed the movie
The BR discs are fine. No problems with video or audio quality. I enjoyed this film , although I liked the first film better. I think it's rare when the follow up film is as good as the original.

Great steel to go with my brother’s 1st Gladiator movie steel
For my brothers birthday. He’s such a fan of steelbooks and a huge fan of the first movie I think he’ll really appreciate having this steel to go with the steel he has for the first movie.

Good movie, but not quite as good of a story as first one.
As my title says, as a stand alone movie, and had this been the only Ridley Scott Gladiator film, it would have been a masterpiece, but because we have the first one to compare it to, it falls a bit short is as the story itself isn't quite as strong as the first one. Don't get me wrong, it's still pretty good, just not quite as emotionally grabbing as the first. It basically picks up about 15 years after the first one, if memory serves, where the "Maximus" gladiator in this one turns out to be Maximus' son from the first film, and he's now the slave in Gladiator school after being captured in battle. The reveal of this plot point was rather well done, in my opinion. It harkined back to the original film with the same motion that Maximus used in the arena. The action scenes in this film are pretty good, but we've seen similar before in the 300 films, and other Greek/Roman period pieces. So they weren't all that ground breaking. I'll just say this, the film as a whole was pretty good, just not as original as it could have been.

Great sequel
I bought this movie before watching it and am not diasppointed! The way that it was filmed made it almost look like a live production. What is interesting are the historically correct gladiator scenes. LOved this!

IF you already saw Gladiator 1... DON'T BOTHER SEEING THIS ONE!!
I had great anticipation in viewing this movie. I could have bought it via Prime TV for $4.99 to Rent, $6.99 to buy, or buy the physical DVD for $16.99. My mindset was to create my own "Box-Set" since I already own and love Gladiator I with Russel Crowe. Wish I only rented it due to the fact that it was only a 3 out of 5 stars AT BEST. Paul Mescal (Lucius) had adequate moments in mostly his fight scenes but other than that I think he was poorly cast and his acting was tired and flawed. Even Denzel Washington isn't going to escape my review - Make no mistake, I am a Denzel fan. Loved everything he did... Until now. Clearly the creators of the Gladiator 2 didn't do their homework because the NY Post only gave his Broadway play "Othello" starring Denzel 2 out of 5 stars. It was clear that Denzel is out of his comfort zone, (or maybe beyond his ability) to play a role in ancient Roman times. He simply wasn't believable, and at times looked silly. As for actress Connie Nielson (Lucilla). Her acting was at times almost a carbon copy of her performance in Gladiator 1. It was a quality performance but very predictable. ON THE BRIGHT SIDE, Pedro Pascal, Lior Raz (Love everything Raz has done since "FAUDA") , and the two Ceasars all gave excellent performances through and through and worth the price of admission. My suggestion is DO NOT SEE Gladiator 1 prior to Gladiator 2. IF you see it as a stand alone movie without any predispositions as a sequel to Gladiator 1 you will enjoy it much more. This is WebbMan signing off, and Thanks for reading my review!

Home viewing is the undisputed way to go. .
I had to add it to my DVD collection. Very entertaining movie. I love the first one with Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix. The follow up is very good as well. Nothing beats watching a movie in the comfort of your own home. No disturbances, you can pause to use the restroom without missing anything. Plus the benefit of being able to watch when you want, as often as you like.
