Get one now, and end your search for a good stud finder!
I love, love, LOVE, my new Franklin stud finder!!!The first box I received had obviously been opened, emptied, and resealed, most likely well before my purchase. However, my customer service experience was easy, fast, and hassle-free. After only one or two short messages to the seller explaining the situation, I quickly received the actual tool the next day.I'm a very amateur carpenter/picture hanger/honey-doer. I have searched for, bought, and tried dozens of different brand, type, model, size, and priced, stud finders in the past 40+ years. You name it, and I've owned and tried it. But in all that time I have never found a single stud finder that I was satisfied with. Not a single one was accurate enough, or consistent enough to ever consider my search for a quality stud finder over with for good.No matter which stud finder I tried, I always had to poke extra holes in the sheetrock to find both edges of the stud, in order to be absolutely sure where the center was located. Most of the things I hang in the garage or inside our house are heavy, and I'd much rather over-build than risk a catastrophic failure and possible injury to someone. So for me, accurately finding the stud's center is critical to installing the lag bolts and heavier screws I normally use. After watching a few videos and reading many reviews I decided to take a chance on the Franklin Sensors ProSensor MAX, despite the steep (for me) price. As soon as my new unit actually came in I took it out to try. I can happily, and with certainty, say that my decades-long stud finder quest has finally come to a successful and very happy end.I long ago reached the point where I dreaded having to hang anything on our walls heavier than an 8"x10" picture, or a calendar. But, no more! You cannot beat this stud finder for quickly and accurately locating wood or metal studs. No way! As fast as you can press a button and steadily slide the unit horizontally across the wall a couple of feet, you can find both edges and center of a stud. I'd say easily within 10-15 seconds. Plus you don't need to poke any extra holes in your sheetrock to double check your tool, not one! The row of bright LED's instantly indicate the whole stud, side to side, and center, with no discernable error of any significance that I could tell.I recall reading some reviews claiming short battery life, but that hasn't been my experience. I've used mine over two months on the initial set of batteries, but I do intend to get the rechargeable battery pack once this first set is done. It's not the beefiest-feeling tool, but feels sturdy enough that I'm not worried about it. With a little care it should last for a lifetime of home use, no problem. I'm so happy with my purchase that I ended up buying a professional-grade padded tool case to keep mine in, for a lot of extra protection and peace of mind. After many uses over a couple of months, I can confidently say that my long search for a stud finder I'm completely happy with is finally over! I'm very happy with the price I paid for a tool that repeatedly, and without fail, operates as easily, quickly, and accurately as is advertised. For me, that's a very rare find. I tell everyone I know and work with about my new Franklin stud finder, and I recommend they get one as soon as possible and end their search, too.

This stud sensor is fantastic!
Wow, finally a stud sensor that actually works in compromising situations. The small handheld sensors that they sell the biggest box stores are OK for ideal situations where drywall is physically attached to a stud or very close proximity, but this thing takes stud sensing to an entirely different level. It does what it says it will do, even going through very thick ceramic tile and drywall to locate studs. It’s definitely worth paying a few dollars more and saving the aggravation of lesser stud sensors, and still having to use a thin nail to verify stud placement before you install a fastener.

THIS is the only stud finder you need.
Im almost never compelled to write a review but for this tool I felt I had to. THIS is the stud finder to get. There is nothing more simple and EFFECTIVE as this stud finder. It made my life 1000% easier moving into a new home mounting all sorts of things to the walls. It was dead on accurate in finding the entire stud and highlighting the center.

Works great through tile
We wanted to put grab bars in the tile shower. The installer said they wouldn't be able to find the studs behind the tile, and we would have to either use anchors or guess where the studs were based on the other side of the wall. Low and behold, this reasonably priced multi-sensor stud finder worked great. Very easy to use. Not heavy.

Opt for a Different Model Unless You're Regularly Tackling Thick Walls
This stud finder effectively locates studs, but there are some shortcomings. Although it claims to detect electrical wiring, the functionality is quite poor. The indication of wiring is so subtle that it is practically useless. While this is touted as the top-tier model, it falls short compared to its more affordable counterpart, the M210.The M210 not only has a separate indicator for wiring but also comes with the same 13 sensors. The only difference is that the Max has more LED lights, which doesn't make any significant difference in performance. Additionally, the Max is bulky and large. While the Max can detect studs deeper in the wall, the M210 provides a separate indicator light for wire detection, making the tradeoff quite equal. Given that the Max costs twice as much and still lacks proper wire detection, it's hard to justify the price. I'm also disappointed that they don't include a case, not even a soft pouch. And at $119, they could've also thrown in a couple of AA batteries. Therefore, I'm returning it and ordering an M210 instead.

Best Stud Finder!
Great stud finder. I needed this powerhouse so I could find joist under 1 3/4" of subfloor. This house we just bought had a remodel at some point and the builder added another layer of mdf subfloor to the plywood that was originally used. The floor was sooooo squeaky, I almost didn't buy the house. When we got to the point where we installed the new carpet, I used this item to find every joist and drill in as many screws as I could, through the MDF and plywood, into the joist. Worked like a charm.

It works so good
Wow, it really works! Lath and plaster, 1/2” Sheetrock with 1/2”ply tested. The center marker is actually a very nice feature as well
