Informative but easy to follow.
This is a really informative book and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. As well as explaining the effects of trauma on the body it also guides you through suggested practices with good explanations and also pictures of poses. I learnt a lot and it’s also a book that I will come back to from time to time for reference.

A greatly informative & well presented book! Trauma is a part of this human experience- we all have different degrees & responses. Understand it & how it affects us individually is such an important lesson & we owe it to ourselves to take the time to learn. Books like this are a gateway to understanding ourselves better. Easy to follow and well written!
This beginners guide to healing trauma through the use of Somatic Yoga is a wonderful book. It is well written and easy to understand. It explains the intricacies of the mind, the body and the Nervous System and how they are all connected. It gives examples of pranayama (breath-work) , mindfulness practices, and asana / poses. I love the way each pose has an affirmation attached to it. There are sequences & flows made for different feelings or moods. And it includes a great workbook and journaling pages in the back. As a yoga instructor for 24 years & a Yoga Medicine™️ Therapeutic Specialist®️. This is a wonderful addition to my toolbox of books.

I loved it
As a 48-year-old yoga instructor navigating some health issues, I found The Somatic Toolbox by Ashley Wellspring to be incredibly impactful. This book blends theory with practical exercises in a 28-day program that’s both accessible and profound. It explores tension release techniques, guided meditations, yoga, and somatic therapy, offering insights into how our bodies store emotions and experiences. I was particularly struck by the unique exercises like pendulation, sequencing, and resourcing, which you don’t often see elsewhere. Wellspring encourages extending the practice beyond the initial 28 days, and I wholeheartedly agree—it’s worth it. This guide is a valuable resource for anyone seeking to reconnect with themselves and find inner peace. It provides a rich combination of psychological insights and practical tools for personal growth and holistic well-being. Give it a read and see for yourself; it might just transform your approach to living.

A book every yoga teacher should read
As a yoga teacher, I can only highly recommend this book. Ashley has shown how somatic yoga is so supportive in trauma coping. Everyone who deals with people should know the different types of trauma, especially everyone who teaches yoga. We always have students who struggle with trauma and it is important to be able to support them. But also to be sensitive to this topic, the needs of these students. The importance of language we use, affirmations, mindfulness hints, journaling suggestions, and so much more in this book are enormously valuable for teaching. Many poses are described in detail with different options and explained for handling in somatic yoga.It is also very easy to use for total yoga beginners. If your struggling with trauma and want to learn coping techniques - read this book. It’s easy to understand and the sequences are beautifully illustrated and explained.I enjoyed this book very much.
