Q: Could I insert a disposable filter in the drain?

The diameter of the draining hole is about 1.5 inches.

Q: We travel a lot. With cold water and ice to soak feet, how sturdy? How likely to collapse?

I have had mine for months. I use them as cold water pitcher is my fridge. They are flexible plastic (think milk carton plastic) and when empty can be flatten. They have a leak proof screw cap and handle for carrying.

Q: What is the actual dimensions of the bottom. Im working with an RV sink that is 10 x 12 at the inside base and the top opening is 12 x 14.

The dimension of exterior base for this dishpan is about 9 x 7 inches

Q: Could a kitchen knife accidentally slice through the collapsible material?

Definitely! We used ours for about 3 months & the flexible material cracked & leaked. Also, we never collapsed it. I would not recommend this product.
