Yes, it's lava rocks. the size as described. I bought it to fill in some holes in my gas fireplace but they were extremely too small

They’re fine ricks to use for bread baking to create steam. Not too huge, but not all dust.

May have to throw some smaller pieces away, but still enough larger ones to grill with.
Getting harder and harder to find this in big box stores. This is where all your flavor is when cooking. The grease that drips onto the rocks adds flavor each time you cook on the grill. They never wear out and can take the heat of propane.I did end up adding another grid above the burners to prevent the smaller rocks from falling through.

Purchased to hold steam for sourdough bake
I am always looking for ways to make beautiful bread! Place a layer of these lava rocks into a pan, cover with water, and put in your oven to preheat. 30 minutes later, place your sourdough in the oven and watch a beautiful rise occur! I have reused these several times now and won't be stopping anytime soon.
