iVAC Vacuum Auto Switch Box - 13A UK Model, Push Button, ON-OFF, Yellow

I purchased this to work alongside my lathe and dust-extraction system, so the dust extractor would automatically turn on when the lathe goes on.The only issue was the fact that the dust extractor has a push button on/off switch, with the large red "killswitch" covering both the rubberised buttons. I therefore had to "fashion" a means of keeping the "on" switch depressed, so this unit could handle sending the on/off information to the dust extractor...A small shim of wood works wonders!Its a bit pricey, but is great at providing that auto on-off functionality I was missing with the dust extractor.

Bought this product about three years ago and has performed admirably until recently. Sent an email to the seller enquiring about repairs, fully expecting to pay for any work undertaken. Received a reply advising me to send it to them for assessment and it came back 3 days later, working perfectly. I enquired as to whether I had to pay anything and got this reply, "No charge on this job, it was a component failure which is quite rare and should not have happened - we effectively offer a lifetime warranty on these products."So in closing, my gratitude to Martin at Toolovation.

This has eased my dust collection problems so much. The number of times I would forget to turn on the vacuum and then be half way through a cut with no chance of going back. No special skills required, just plug it in and plug things into it. The box does the rest.I especially like the force on and force off settings as I can vacuum the floor without running a machine and can turn it off if using eg a glue gun

This is a very good device, and definitely better for most purposes than an auto-switch built in to the vacuum. The time delays on start and stop are sensibly set, and so at first glance is the tool load threshold for starting the vacuum - eg the LED lights on my chopsaw don't start the vacuum, but running the chopsaw does, which is exactly as it ought to be.The only reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is that the unit delivered to me didn't work properly. The rocker switch wouldn't stay reliably in the 'auto' position, and kept switching off. A bit of investigation cured the problem by removing the somewhat flimsy and fatuous rubber dust/moisture shield covering the rocker switch. It turned out that being forced through its panel hole in a way that traps the rubber shield was not what the little rocker switch was designed to cope with; it distorts the plastic switch housing and in the case of my unit led to the switch not clicking properly into the 'auto' position. With the rubber cover pulled off, including all trapped remnants, the switch works perfectly. Needs a small design revision (and better QA).

A stand alone device, I prefer it as I had a vacuum cleaner which auto start but being cheap the vacuum the motor broke. Rather than buy a special vacuum, with this unit I can use any vacuum - I already have a Henry in the garage. Seems a genuine supplier who has had his own idea and made it. Really sensitive even works with my soldering Iron to turn on the vacuum. Cuts down on sawdust and saves power too by turning the vacuum off when not needed automatically. Probably adds to safety too as I can concentrate on the job rather than switching vacuum on and off. Yes, I really do like it!

Does exactly what it says. I have a power extension plugged into mine so that I don't have to keep unplugging one machine to use another and it works fine as long as you switch off one machine before starting another so as not to risk overloading the unit.The only slight problem is that the dust cover over the rocker switch that lets you go from auto to manual operation makes using the switch a bit fiddly.

i bought this to operate my cnc and hoover. everytime i swithed on the cnc it tripped the switch in my consumer unit. I contacted the seller for help and returned. They tested and couldnt find a fault there end. They measured my wattage and couldnt explain why it tripped the electric. They did refund me 100%

Works well, as advertised.Expensive.The switch is small and fiddly.The cable was the stiffer/ harder kind which made the unit more difficult to hang
