Kictero Manual Can Opener Side Cutting Safety Smooth

The last can opener became jammed and difficult to turn, and it always left sharp edges. I tried this one and once you understand how to place it on the edge of the can (as shown in the side picture) its simple and opens perfectly. Initially I tried to hold it as per my previous opener, with the handle/knob on top and turning horizontally. Fail. So just hold it with the turning knob on the side, press firmly onto the lip of the can and turn back a half turn to catch the edge, then turn forwards and it should grip and cut immediately. A bonus is that he contents of the can don't appear to get into the cutting mechanism as the can is opened, which means you don't have to wash it and dry it (which caused the old pair to eventually rust...)

So what starts out as seemly the best can opener I have used only has a short lifetime!I bought this in October 2016 and was impressed although it did come in a fairly generic box with no instructions like it was a cheap knock off.Unperturbed by this I figured out how to use it, as its not like a conventional one and it was opening them in no time. It forces the lid off rather than cuts anything like others.Fast forward 6 months and it has been slowly getting worse and worse. Today when I tried it left small slivers of metal sticking out the sides and the can was still not open in two places. You can easily cut yourself on these slivers badly and worse is if you ingested them as they are small and come off potentially into the can. This is now happening on a regular basis with different cans and brands. I don't want to think about what it could do if you swallowed any metal bits.In principle its a good idea but I can't help feeling either that the design wears out over time or there are some inferior\fake copies that are not up to standard.

Had this for 8 months and it is pretty much useless. Started out great, and would buy a similar "lid off" one. But as with so many can openers the lifespan is short. It always needed a couple!e of goes round to get the lid off, but now needs many goes and leaves metal shards and splinters.

I have always found that just like vegetable peelers it is very hard to settle on one that works just as you like it.I tried this can opener after many years of using my culinaire magic can opener and I am very pleased with it. I find that I have to go around the can twice but it removes the lid without leaving sharp edges.I will recommend as it does the job and is light and easy to attach,remove and use.

Having read the reviews, I was hopeful that this gadget would overcome my inadequacy with the conventional tin opener. No such luck. It's still a messy business, and I never know when and if I have been successful with this one.

i tried many can openers, but this is an exceptional design. if i was to nominate a can opener designer for a nobel prize - this would be the case. for the rest I used i would punish the creators by forcing them using their creations for life. so, why it is so good? it is easy to use, no force required, once opened there is nothing leaking or spilling, and the cut part can be reused as a lid perfectly fitting the can. i will buy a couple of more - a perfect simple gift

I actually purchased this at full price rather than most of the reviewers who seem to have been given it.It simply does not work!It just squashes the rim and doesn't open it.I then had to try my normal Magican which was a struggle as the tin had been mangled.PLEASE DO NOT RISK IT.BUY A DIFFERENT ONE.I have found on several products that the 'free reviewers' ALL seem to give a good review to ensure they keep getting more products BUT I have found their reviews cannot be trusted.You live and learn.

This can opener is fantastic. It does not create any sharp edges when the lid is taken off. The lid then fits neatly back on the can if you want to use it as a cover. Very happy with the purchase.
