Essential product
I really cannot do without this iron cleaner. I don’t iron a lot anymore and sometimes get the iron too hot. Oops. Any residue on the iron comes off easily and I am ready to iron again.

Make your iron new again!!
We finally have an iron that we both loved..then after almost a year of regular use, something caked under the iron. Hard water, starch or whatever that was impossible to remove without damaging the underside. I watched a bunch of YouTube videos on this topic and tried most of them to no avail. So I am back to Amazon and found this cleaner (also made by the people who made the starch that we are using).Follow the instruction, I drained all water from the iron and plugged it in, set to high heat. Then squeezed one tube of cleaner to a terry cloth and started rubbing the area in circular motion. AMAZING!! all stubborn (whatever) start coming off!! Took a few seconds more to clean the rest of the iron and it look brand new!! 5 bucks saved my $100+ iron!!02/11/15: Just bought 3 more packs of this wonderful products. I used the last tube from last time to clean my iron. Now I wonder if this is a scam by Faultess to sell you the starch, which caused gums to deposit at the bottom of the iron, then sell you this product to clean it :-). Well, I am buying it anyway to save my favorite iron.I recommend doing this outside. I did it in my kitchen and the steam set off my smoke alarm, I don't think the chemical vapor is good for you either. But this cleaner worked miracle!!

It works!
I bought due to such great reviews. I was surprised this product worked. You must follow the directions. I had to use a little strength and keep at it to get all the black off. Highly recommend!

Awesome Product / ALWAYS HAS BEDN. =)
This has always been a great product. I’ve been using this for years. Get the iron hot. As possible. Get a CLEAN towel that you do NOT CARE ABOUT. and your iron will be like new. Press hard and make sure to get all parts of the iron. Idc what iron you have, if it has a spot to put water in I highly recommend to NEVER fill with water. Just my opinion. Get a spray bottle instead. Or, I just pull my dress shirts, etc., straight from the washing machine when the load is finished & I iron the wet clothing until it is dry. Took me a while to figure that trick out. Creases will literally last for many washes & depending on the material, many years. Fig id share that little trick. If you use that trick & also use starch, iron until the garment is for the most part dry, & then apply about 1/3 or 1/2 of what you would regularly use.

Worked a Little
Product worked about 40%. Most of the dirt on the iron plate is still there. I will try a different product next time.

Still cheapest and best
Skip any homemade "solutions." Even preparations like Barkeeper's Friend aren't going to cut it. Steel wool may work on the sides of your iron, where gunk isn't quite so baked-on, but you do run the risk of scratching the plating. If you have serious starch or fusible web baked on to that iron, you'll want to do this outdoors because it will smoke. The iron MUST be hot. You MUST use an old terry towel. (Hand-towel size will do it. Washcloth, probably not. Bath towel is too much.) Most important tip: You MUST not get this in the steam holes, or it will deposit on your clothing. Well after the iron has cooled, stick a cotton swab in each hole to be sure that no residue remains. Even then, do a test iron, with steam, on any clean area of that terry towel.

Not certain
Used to clean iron and flat iron, worked well tWith clothes iron, not so much with flat iron. I’d not get this to clean a flatiron again.
