Great addition to a box anchor, especially for mooring near the beach!
I have used this once or twice a week for over two years and it's indispensable for anchoring in a choppy lake. I have it connected to a box anchor by Slide Anchor, and the Dockmate prevents the anchor from getting pulled up suddenly when a surf wave hits. This rope is a must-have for anchoring by the beach. I throw the box anchor with the Dockmate line off the front, then with a normal anchor rope off the back I'll pull the boat close to the shore and tie it off on a tree or a beach spike (also made by Slide Anchor). That keeps my boat's bow pointing into the waves and prevents it from weathervaning. When I'm ready to get moving again, I can cast off the rear line and the Dockmate will pull the boat away from shore. The only problem is if there's nobody on shore to cast your line off from the beach, you have to do it yourself. Now you're now 30-50 feet away from a boat that wants to zoom away from you. I've had to get pretty good at holding the boat back with the rope while mountain climbing my way through the water. Totally worth it though, Dockmate is doing its job!One last tip: I recommend using two lines on your anchor: A normal anchor line and the Dockmate line. The non-stretchy line will make it easier to pull your anchor out when it's really set well, plus it preserves the elasticity of the Dockmate line.

Works great with a box anchor
Used it to moor a Capri 14.2 in small cove. Worked well pulling the boat to shore, getting in and out, raising the sails and exiting the coveFabulous!

This Is the third I’ve purchased
When combined with my box anchor and a Danik hook, this is the right rig to anchor my 22 foot wake boat. It allows me to set the anchor far enough from shore to protect the prop, and pull the boat in closer to get on and off the boat in shallower water. The buddy then pulls the boat to safer/deeper water.

Great product
This is a great anchor rope! Ignore other reviews that say it does not hold their boat in choppy warred. If you know how to anchor a boat this thing is awesome. Used it 4th of July weekend 2020 (busiest weekend in years) at Dale Hollow Lake TN at a boat in camp site. Keeps the boat off the “beach” in rough water and allows you to pull it back in for boarding. If anything this stretch rope takes the shock of waves off your anchor allowing it to hold better. All in all great product.

The Best
For any small boat skipper this anchor buddy is the best. I am in an area of more than ten foot tides so I'm always needing to keep my boat off the beach. Anchor buddy is perfect. It lasts about two seasons and it's worth every penny.

Works well.
Works well on a 32 foot boat. A little tricky in the wind.
