The AMW1863SP is brilliant in this respect
I bought one of these wheelchairs for the medium term use of my wife while she recovers from a badly broken ankle. I had initially borrowed a wheelchair from our local Red Cross. That, being a very robust steel-framed item, was very heavy and bulky, and I struggled to lift it in an out of the car boot. As the Red Cross volunteer commented, it was the Land-Rover of wheelchairs. When it became apparent that we would need a wheelchair for more than just a few weeks it seemed sensible to buy one, and my top priority was light weight. The AMW1863SP is brilliant in this respect. It is unusual in having rear wheels that are smaller than is normal for self propelled wheelchairs, and this, apart from reducing weight, makes the wheelchair more compact when folded up. We found this a particularly useful feature when eating out in a restaurant. We could store it next to our table without it getting in anyone's way. I'm generally very impressed by the quality of the design and construction, and it looks good with its bright anodised aluminium metalwork and its black upholstery. The padded seat, backrest and armrests, and the rear storage bag, which incidentally comes with tools for maintenance, are nice features, and what is particularly impressive for a budget priced wheelchair is the provision of handlebar brakes which allow the carer more control, particularly on slopes - a useful safety feature. Downsides? Very few. The frame does flex quite a bit when negotiating rough terrain, and my wife comments that this causes movement in the backrest which she finds a little uncomfortable. And there's no seat belt. But so far we are very pleased with our purchase, and it represents excellent value for money.

Brilliant sturdy foldable light wheelchair .
Due to my husband's current illness he cannot walk great distances. Being impossible to hire a wheelchair in these difficult times it was great to be able to buy a new wheelchair that does just the job. It arrived quickly so my husband could get out and about. The wheelchair was fully assembled and is just so well designed - simply squeeze the chair in to fold in half, and it fits easily into a Fiat 500 with the seats down. Otherwise it is comfortable for my husband to be pushed, and it has big wheels so he can push himself along with if he needs to. The brakes are good, the chair is lightweight for lifting and folding up, yet sturdy enough to push along and the wheels are strong and sturdy too.We cannot praise this wheelchair highly enough and the excellent prompt service from Angel Mobility - thank you.

Excellent value for money, very good overall
Very good, light portable wheelchair (the weight is definitely a plus) and folds very easily.Only minor downside is that the handles can feel a bit 'loose' (swing a bit right/left) so at first it may not feel very strong, though I think is the way it is intended to be.Very quick delivery and so overall very happy about my purchase.

Ideal and excellent value for money.
This is great and folds easily leaving it quite compact so will go in the boot of a small car. It's not exactly ultra lightweight but has a good balance of weight versus feeling robust. It's easy to manoeuvre and hence has made days out with my dad much easier. He's not really strong enough to propel himself fully but the fact that he can reach the back wheels means he can turn himself round and move forward a little by himself which he appreciates to try. Recommend to use a wheelchair cushion to be really comfortable.

Was ok in the house but had a terrible time with this chair outside.
At first, we though this chair was wonderful. It was delivered very quickly and was ok at around the house. Today, we took my 92 year old mother outside for a walk and it was a disaster. The two small front wheels randomly start flapping wildly, shaking the person in the chair and making it impossible to push. We were out for 15 minutes and had to go home again because the two front wheels are not fit for purpose. Also, the right side brake is so hard to get on, the pressure needed to apply it actually bent the handle and now it won't go on at all. An absolute disappointment and waste of money. Do not buy!

It's certainly nice and light and seems sturdy enough
Tried it out but found it exhausting to use due to ME. I've seen people flying on these so may be I'm doing something wrong, but felt cumbersome and awkward. Maybe if someone pushing it's okay. It's certainly nice and light and seems sturdy enough, but I just didnt seem to get far on it, it was ahrd work, and often veering off to one side, then other. So without experience of other wheelchairs I cannot compare this to any other experiences, but I'd guess okay if someone pushes for you, but otherwise maybe look for better model.

Awesome quality for an awesome price.
Having recently become medically disabled due to ME/CFS, I finally accepted that a wheelchair would be useful in helping me manage my health. This is the only chair I could find that offers both side wheels for the person in the chair to be able to adjust/move the chair while sitting in it, as well as handbrakes on the handles for the person pushing that was under £300. We haven’t been disappointed.Since receiving the chair (which camera quickly), I have been able to go outside with my husband and dog on her walks again and this chair handles grass and rugged ground pretty well! It’s neat because the two front wheels aren’t attached by a solid bar like more old fashioned chairs are so they each have some room to flex and move so the chair rolls more smoothly and doesn’t jerk the person sitting in it as much. (This is what I assume some commenters meant by it feeling “loose” to push - it isn’t loose, it’s just flexible and not stiff.)Overall, a great wheelchair for someone with limited mobility who needs some help getting out and about.
