Great Value for price.

Great value for an unlocked i7 8700k cpu advertised as new with onboard video support. I paid $170. looks new and bios/ board recognize it. True to power voltage and frequency advertising but you can't tell from packaging if it's new because a sticker was placed over another sticker that states what its description and that is place where you can open the package without cutting the tamper proof sticker which is odd to me. Also there is no cpu case sticker included kinda bummed I really wanted one not sure if they included them anymore. No documentation except for a small folded paper that shows 3 other types of cpu's that are different types/sockets how to plug in to motherboard . You also have to buy a good sperate fan and buy good thermal paste because it runs hot and those items are not included with the cpu.

Smooth and fun build to 5.1GHz with temps at 62C under full load thanks to delid and Kraken

Bought this on Oct 6., was finally delivered on Nov. 5. I had been buying parts since July and really was excited once I knew it had shipped so I was ready to do the mods I wanted to before turning on the first time. With the CPU out of its box and ready for action, I immediately delidded with Rock-It kit. Cleaned off Intel's TIM and replaced with Phobya liquid metal. Resealed with Rock-It kit and black RTV leaving the extra spot for heat expansion that you'll see once you delid. Let dry overnight and NOW came the time to build exactly just one month after ordering.Placed an ASRock Fatal1ty Z370 Gaming K6 into a very nice Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX Glass (I have bought Phanteks for my last two builds and this case has impressed me beyond what I could have expected). Next, I placed the CPU into the board and installed a Kraken x62 (with replaced fans using 4, Corsair ML140 in push/pull) for cooling. I decided to go with Thermal Grizzly Kyronaut between the 8700K and the x62 . Of course, at this point I wanted to boot to see how things looked temp wise but the rest of the build remained and at least we all know some fun was still to be had. So, off to installing a Samsung 960 M.2 for Windows and two Crucial BX300 - 480GB in RAID 0 for games along with a Seagate 4TB for bulk storage. An EVGA 1000 SuperNOVA G3 80Plus Gold went in for power as it would need to help deliver power to all these goodies along with an ASUS ROG STRIX GTX 1080Ti 11GB Gaming for Battlefield1 ... CoD4, DiRT 4, GTAV, and some of my other recent favorites. My RAM choice was the G.Skill Trident RGB 32GB 3600.G.Skill 3600 and they slid in without issue.First boot finally!!!! Into the BIOS I dived to check temps and set up the RAID and memory XMP. With the Kraken I was idling at 26, so I set up the RAID and went on to install windows/drivers/updates along with all the CAM software for the Kraken and NZXT Fans.A quick reboot just to make sure everything was nice and smooth, which it was (phew), so one more reboot into BIOS to try for a pretty aggressive first OC. I pushed the 8700K to 5.1 GHz and pushed the G.Skill to 4133. Save changes, reboot, palms sweaty hoping I had maybe got a little lucky in the silicon lottery and would end up with a nice fast and quiet machine.SUCCESS, as I easily went Into windows. Launched Prime95, full Torture Test with MAX LOAD... temperatures of... 62C!!!!! Same temperatures were seen in Heaven as I played with the OC on the 1080 and even saw a 1 degree drop with some linpack testing.Looking at other reviews, it looks like delidding worked for me in this setup and I am glad I did it. Because of the temps, the fans on the Kraken are barely audible along with the other case fans.Needless to say, this thing hums along nicely at 5.1 GHz with the RAM at 4133. Gaming is an absolute joy and day-to-day operations move with ease and fluidity. I am very happy with this CPU among all the other goodies and highly recommend it. If you decide to delid it, I wish you luck (just take your time) and great temp reduction.

An utterly godlike CPU.

Got this for a new gaming rig I was setting up. The first Amazon package came as an empty box. The CPU box had clearly been compromised at some point at the Amazon Warehouse (I'd have to assume) and it had no CPU inside, only the documentation. Amazon was quick to send me a new one, and it wasn't a huge setback since I was still awaiting the motherboard and case. Second package arrived just fine. You know what you're paying for here. This is a really high performance CPU with the capability to be overclocked to your heart's content, and (while nothing is "future-proof") it should stay relevant for a few years to come. Paired with a nice GPU (1070 GTX in my case) it's able to run literally anything I throw at it. Shadow of the Tomb Raider can run with nearly all settings maxed out/at high. It blasted through most stress tests I threw at it, and managed to score a 1456 on Cinebench's CPU test, hitting only 71 deg C at most. This CPU (obviously) comes with no dinky stock Intel cooler, so I'm using a Corsair H100i v2 for cooling here, and it pays off in BOUNDS. I can OC stable to 4.9GHz (what I have it running at now) and it runs cooler, both at idle and under load, than my last CPU did with its beefy Coolermaster heatsink/fan. Albeit, the radiator fans can get a bit noisy at times, but I've been tweaking my OC profiles to reduce noise and I've gotten the noise factor down a bit.Overall, I'm immensely satisfied. This is the first time (since the days of the 8800 GTX) that I've had a "relevant" gaming PC, something that can actually run modern AAA titles, and my quality of life has improved drastically as a result. No more FPS drops when I try and watch Twitch while playing Overwatch. No more stuttering and lagging when the OS decides to run some CPU-intensive garbage in the background while I'm gaming. It's pretty amazing. Here's the full build, for anyone interested. I wholeheartedly recommend this build to anyone looking to upgrade or build their first gaming PC, and it's relatively budget friendly compared to pre-built options, especially if you can snag some or all the parts on sale:Intel - Core i7-8700K 3.7 GHz 6-Core ProcessorCorsair - H100i v2 70.69 CFM Liquid CPU CoolerAsus - PRIME Z390-A ATX LGA1151 MotherboardCorsair - Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 MemoryKingston - A400 120 GB 2.5" Solid State DriveEVGA - GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB SC Gaming ACX 3.0 Video CardNZXT - H500 (White) ATX Mid Tower CaseCorsair - 850 W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power SupplyWhole build totaled out to about $1,300 after mail-in rebates.
