Nicely Chosen Wood
Usually batches of wood will have at least one piece that has knots. All 8 pieces of 2x2x4 were perfect. All the pieces were knot-free, beautiful even grain and a beautiful creamy color. Thank you.

Excellent basswood for carving. Came well packed, undented.
From totem poles, creatures and carving small potted plants that never die to anything the kids come up with these basswood pieces are not a bad price for the lot. Basswood is a soft wood, and makes for easy carving should you have the correct tools, or just a simple pocket knife and a lot of time. I has some innate fascination of carving potted cactuses and succulents and it just makes me feel warm and cozy inside. I then like to use watercolors or watered down cheap acrylic paints and paint them. These blocks come nice and smooth with no indentations or manufacturing defects. Great for starters and pros alike and come well packed.

A bit thick for my purposes
I bought these for some miniature work and being exactly 1 inch actually made them a bit too big. However, these are exactly as advertised and not smaller because of saw marks so that would be a benefit for most people and thus I'll not hold it against the product

Easy to carve
I'm a beginner and these are so easy to practice on. They came nice & smooth & when I carved, it was like butter.I'm not sure if this is an error on my part regarding technique, but there were a few times my blade would get stuck, but I think I accidentally tried carving too deeply.Another possible rookie error would be the few times I would carve & from where the blade was all the way to the end of the wood would split and I'd be forced to peel that little strip off.I'm not sure if this is normal due to different wood grains, but if I were carving vertical, for instance, & rotated it to where I'd still be carving vertically, but towards the opposite side, it wasn't a smooth cut at all. In fact, it seemed to almosy fray.So definitely keep those issues in mind if you're a beginner & if you're pretty knowledgeable about this hobby, please don't hesitate to let me or everyone here know whether or not the issues are just poor technique so the brand doesn't suffer.I will say the size could've been a little thicker, but that's no slight against the quality, rather than a preference of mine i hadn't yet learned.Overall, I really enjoy working on these blocks and if they offer a larger block, I'll purchase from them again
