Inside the bag is no padding but there is a good quality lining which is quite sturdy.

No, just perfect for a 4 year old.

This would make an ideal school bag, the inside has that waterproof type coating

Q: How to clean? Can it be put in a laundry bag in the washing machine?

I bought this for my granddaughter to go to school, so I’m not really sure how to clean it but I don’t see why you couldn’t put it in the wash . Sorry not to be more helpful!
