Good model bigger than I thought takes awhile to make ...
Good model bigger than I thought takes awhile to make and is a bit fiddly but most enjoyable afternoon and a bit more spent building it. Make good use of the candle wax and the fine sand paper. All works and it looks very good shame it does not come with a balloon, wax and sand paper. Well worth it looking forward to my next one.

Runs brilliantly
Not an easy build, you will need to sand down a lot of cocktail sticks when assembling the cylinder block because they are too thick otherwise.Very clever design and it runs perfectly.

Fiddly but fun
Excellent little kit, built in an afternoon. The parts are extremely precise and it all fits together well. Some pieces were a little too tight and I managed to snap a few of the included cocktail sticks during assembly but thankfully they give you about twice as many as you actually need. A few of the bits were rather hard to pop out or fit together for my sausage fingers but I got there in the end. Only giving 4 stars because the final few steps where you have to fit the axels into the frame involve some pretty brutal flexing of parts which wasn’t a pleasant experience after all the hard work you’ve put in and you don’t want anything to snap. Also, I found I needed a bit of tinkering and resetting of pieces to get it to operate smoothly. Would certainly recommend it but be prepared for a few frustrating moments putting it together.

Make good use of fine sandpaper e
A bit fiddly for an 89 yo, fingers are not as agile as they were/ However, the precision cut pieces fit together perfectly if care is taken. Make good use of fine sandpaper e.g. on corners of tenon joints also candle wax to aid assembly particularly small parts on the toothpicks.Next project, tractor and trailer.

Great to build but flawed
Bought this as a birthday present for my husband. He loved building it and only did one page of the instructions per night to make it last. Disappointing end result though is even though the engine turns really smoothly it fails to function when connected to the balloon. The other annoying thing is that one piece broke, ugears emailed to say they were sending a replacement piece but never did, did not respond to subsequent emails and we had to glue the piece together to finish the set. Get your act together ugears - won't buy again.

Poor quality ply.
I started off making the Timer in the Ugears series,,that model was very good quality. The quality of the plywood on this model, the pneumatic engine, was extremely poor. Poeces were splintering and often completely breaking on removal from the surrounding board. This has not made me overly keen to purchase further Ugears models, even though they do appeal to me. The engine worked in the end which is why I gave it 2 stars, just for that, but if they are going to skimp on the quality of materials used then fiddly models like this become almost impossible, not to mention frustrating!

Gives the children an insight to how engine work
I made the model for my Grannddaugter who is a infant, school teacher all the models I make I give to her for the children who are delighted with them.

Quite remarkable
A brilliant little piece of engineering. I am genuinely astonished that a model engine made entirely out of wood actually runs when you blow (quite hard) into it. The design of the engine block is very clever, with air channels pre cut, and there is a timing rod controlling air entry and exit from both ends of the cylinder, meaning the cylinder is in fact double action.
