Impressive, Thorough, and Fun!

I've been a graphic designer for 17 years! I've worked high profile jobs in the industry, most recently the Philadelphia Eagles as a Lead Designer for the past 10 years. This year I decided to turn a new leaf and teach design to high school students. I was really struggling finding a resource that was energetic, relatable, and just easy to follow ... then I stumbled upon Kris' book! I skimmed it and purchased on Amazon. After reading through, I found her resources on Teachers Pay Teachers as well and I honestly have nothing but positive reviews here. Kris breaks design down into the easiest format, as a first time educator she made my life easier this year and I am forever grateful. She also has some amazing design chops, as a female designer for Disney. So, I knew I was in good company when I found her products and I saw her work.I highly recommend this book, you and your students will love it!

Excellent book

I am a graphic designer and taught design for twenty years. This book is a very thorough introduction to the fundamentals of graphic design. The writing is clear and friendly, and the illustrations demonstrate the concepts well. This is a great resource for the novice graphic designer. I highly recommend this book.

Does what it said it would.

Great little book. Very simple and instructional. I have a ton of experience with the topic but never want to pretend like I can’t learn more. Kris made a couple points that shined a light on somethings that I hadn’t seen from her or respective before so that’s always fun. Enjoy!

This is just what I needed.

Great layout, actually useful information and is offered in a way that as a beginner you can actually use it too. I'm really looking forward to digging into this more.

Excellent choice for those starting out or as a practical reference book!

As a graphic designer, I find reference books crucial in my workflow as they allow me to consult basic concepts that I may overlook despite my experience. Their value lies in providing me with a reliable and comprehensive source of information that I can refer to whenever I need to refresh my memory. I highly recommend that all designers make reference books a part of their toolkit — using this or others.

Thin. Only ~50 pages of "real" content.

This book truly only covers "fundamentals" of graphic design, at a high level. There are only ~50 pages of actual content - written in giant font, mind you. The second half of this thick pamphlet (I hesitate to call it a "book") is a fat appendix - with brainstorming guides, screenshots of Adobe Illustrator, etc. There is a ton of whitespace where you are supposed to take notes. If I had paid more attention to the index available in the online book sample ("Read sample") I might have realized just how short this booklet is.I am baffled that the author's list of common / popular graphic design programs doesn't include the Affinity Suite: Affinity Designer, Affinity Photo, and Affinity Publisher. The only "professional" option she points to is the Adobe Suite.I appreciate that the author assembled the basics of graphic design in a single booklet. I knew most of this stuff already, but in a loose, disconnected form. She connected the dots for me.But dang... This booklet / fat pamphlet isn't worth the $25 I paid for it. I'm crying inside right now. At most, I would have paid $10. You might be better off scouring YouTube and/or design blogs for this type of content. All the info likely already exists out there for free. The booklet also feels a tad unprofessional because the colors on the paperback cover don't match the vibrancy of the book cover shown on the product listing. The book cover colors look very muted in person. The orange word "Graphic" looks brown. The words on the spine are aligned with the top of the spine, not the center - making the booklet look wonky. I would have expected better from a professional designer.
