It does the job. This is the gold standard, all-purpose mute for the double bass, the one players know and trust, the one that conductors expect to see you putting on your bridge when "con sordino" appears on the score. Mercifully, it does not mute the instrument *too* much.

Great mute for *performance*
Needed a double bass mute for a performance. These are different than a practice mute so take notice. Smells good n rubbery.

Good mute good price. I only bought it because I would get in trouble in orchestra without it (who on earth needs a Bass section muted? Apparently Stravinsky does).
