Easy to understand
Astronomy For Dummies is a great book for those who love to read about Astronomy, but not with complicated jargon and explanations. Astronomy For Dummies is easy to read and offers a more simplified look at the science of astronomy. I've actually been stargazing nearly 45 years and have read many books on the subject and understand, fairly well, the physics involved.. Even though I have a good understanding of the subject, this book is still fun for me and quite helpful. I recommend this book foe anyone who loves Astronomy whether they are well-versed in the subject or are new to it.

Very Informative
Years ago I purchased one of the first of the series of Astronomy for Dummies books & would have to say that there is a night & day difference between that first one & this latest one. Extremely informative on almost any aspect of the rapidly expanding science of astronomy. The authors many years of both research & teaching experience show in this comprehensive & well written book. Probably could easily be used as a college text for Astronomy 101, but is much more readable than most such textbooks. Some of the humor is a bit corny but probably works better in a live classroom.

A Great Introduction to Astronomy (If You Can Survive the Puns!)
This book provides an excellent and fairly detailed introduction to astronomy. It covers all the bases, from the solar system and planets to other stars, comets, galaxies, nebulae, and even more advanced topics including black holes, the Big Bang theory, and dark matter (you'll be forgiven for skipping some of the latter chapters!). This book is also quite up to date on recent research and technology, unlike many of the other digital books available, especially (and sadly) the classic Golden series books which were astronomers' staples for decades but have not been kept up to speed. As a space exploration aficionado, I also appreciate the frequent mention of both past and recent probes and satellites contributing to our knowledge of the cosmos. The author also makes a valiant effort to thread humor throughout the book, though be prepared to grin-and-bear-it if a dry wit and constant puns aren't your thing. A couple very minor omissions include no mention of Venus's reverse rotation (a significant astronomical anomaly), and a very simple illustration would help beginners greatly in the explanation of right ascension and declination. However, those are tiny considering the volume of good coverage here: You can't go wrong with this book as your start to a serious inquiry into astronomy.

Great even if you're not a dummy!
My 11 year old grandson was insulted on Christmas when he opened this gift. He said he wasn't a dummy but later in the day I caught him reading it!!!!

Nostalgic Classic
My uncle recommended this book to me as a teenager in the early 70s. I have read it over and over again. My grandfather played a similar role taking me fishing and sharing his advice on life as well as his love of nature and hunting. This is great story telling filled with warmth and love that can only happen between a grandfather and his grandson. The audio version is a great listen as well. Highly recommended.

Perfect for Beginners
This book is fantastic for people who really don't know where to start when they are looking to even try to understand astronomy. My daughter asked for a telescope for her birthday and she got one and then she asked what to do next...point it up was my answer. I got this book to point me in the right direction and it did exactly that.
