Easy to setup, works with home assistant
I needed a no-neutral solution for a switch. I have z-wave devices everywhere, but z-wave w/o neutral is hard to find and super expensive for the one that I found, so I thought I would give this a shot. As such, this is my first zigbee device that I used and it was easy to pair and setup. I am using a conbee II stick with Home Assistant (via ZHA), and it all "just worked" without issue.Installation is really easy, just identify which side of your cable has power coming in, and which goes to the light and connect to the terminals accordingly. Then just add two pigtails to the switch and connect those to the switch terminals. There are a couple minor complaints: First, the device is a little on the "big" side, or just not well-shaped for US outlet boxes. Technically, the specs say "wall mount", and while I don't know where exactly I would put it on a wall, it's definitely suited for that (and comes with a bracket). I had a single gang box, with a single cable (3 wires) and a paddle switch. It does fit, but there isn't much wiggle room. The second minor complaint is that the little terminal cover plate was a tight fit. Since it slides up, it is a bit difficult to get off because there are 5 tabs that all have to free from the latch. The video shows wedging a screwdriver in and prying it up, which is the only method I could get to work, but I also dug the screwdriver into the plastic and marred the plastic a bit. That is ultimately because I used a flat-head and the edge dug the sharp corner into it. So if you use a phillips head (as in the video), it probably won't do that. It goes in the box, so I don't care about that. Once I got it freed from the bottom, it then got stuck on the seam. Since it is in the box, I decided I didn't need that frustration in my life, so I didn't put it back on.All-in-all, I am very happy with this device, it has worked well for me so far and would definitely consider this again if I have a no-neutral installation need again.
