It was a little arduous to install, but once it is in, it works great. I love the inclusion of the signal wire in the video wire that is run to the screen, it makes the task of getting the reverse light signal to the head unit much easier. The fit is great, and the view is very clear. The only issue that I had was the angle of the camera was a little low, so all I did was use single-sided adhesive foam to create a wedge so that the camera was angled upwards, as well as making a seal around the edge.

although they claimed it would this did not fit my vehicle. As far as how it works I can't tell you because it don't fit lol

This camera was installed in a 2009 Cayenne. The unit replaces a license plate light. There are two lights, one on each side of the license plate.1. This unit generally fits into one of the license plate light cutouts. The two screw holes are a tiny bit too close together, so the screws need to be angled to the outside a little to fit back into their predrilled holes in the car. A flashlight helps to get the screws aligned into the predrilled holes. The screws need a small six pointed screwdriver to remove.2. The description does not say the angle of view. I am guessing it is not 170 as I have another car with a factory backup that has a greater angle of view. For comparison, attached are two pictures. One is a 2015 Ford with a factory backup camera and the other is this camera on the 2009 Cayenne. The Ford camera is clearer and has a wider angel of view, but the camera part costs a lot more than this camera. You can see the side fences in the Ford, but not on this camera. This one is probably 120 degrees (another common angle for backup cameras sold on Amazon), it’s just not as big a view as others, and that is probably why the angel of view is not advertised in the Amazon description. Given the angle of view and the position where the unit mounts, the view is more towards the ground. I prefer a view more towards the back, so I angled the camera up a little with a foam wedge cut to the shape of the unit. According to the angle meter on my phone, I mounted the camera at a 13 degree angle.3. It is rated “IPx68” which technically is nonsense, so I am not sure the dust and water rating can be trusted. But since the camera is in a slightly protected position in the back of the car, and not exposed to direct rain, and because the camera has survived a couple short drives in the rain so far, maybe it will be ok. The IP rating rates dust protection and water protection. For example, IP68 has a dust rating of 6 and a water rating of 8. If the unit is rated only for water, the dust position will have an x. So IPx8 means a water rating of 8 but no dust rating. Here, we have “IPx68.” Let’s assume that means IP68, which is an excellent rating, in fact the best possible rating. The dust rating of 6 is the highest possible dust rating - no ingress of dust. The water rating of 8 is the highest possible water rating - the equipment is suitable for continuous immersion in water. Keeping my fingers crossed.4. The picture quality is good. It’s not great. The camera adjusts for brightness but gets washed out a little if backing up in bright sun on a white driveway. There are grid lines in the picture. Night picture quality is acceptable. The night picture is a little grainy but objects are visible.5. The unit has a built in light to replace the light that was removed. It’s an LED light. My car has two license plate lights, so I purchased an LED bulb to replace the other license plate light. Now the light from both lights match. If you purchase an LED for the other light, make sure to install the bulb in the correct orientation or it will not turn on. The bulb is a 36 or 37 mm festoon type. LEDs draw much less current than the original bulb, and the car may think the bulb is burned out, so you want one that is “error free” or “CAN Bus” rated. Also you want one that has 2 or 3 LEDs, so that the amount of light matches the amount produced by the camera LED (which has 2 LEDs).6. The original license plate light has a rubber trim that you want to remove and install on the camera unit.7. The red and black powers wires are very thin. There are two sets, one for the LED and one for the camera, so that the LED can be independently powered on at night or when the other license plate light is on. The power wires are smaller than 22 gauge, as that is as small as my wire stripper reads. I did not measure the wires but they are probably 24 or 26 gauge. The camera and LED use very little power (likely less than 200 mAmps each), so it’s not an issue. Just be careful when you strip the wire cover to make the connections so that only the wire cover is removed and not half of the wire strands with it.Overall for $17 is a decent camera.

Modifications needed to make it fit. Mounting holes did not line up. Picture is good and has integrated distance markings.-update- The camera has begun to fail. Shows a pink picture at times. Less than 6 months old.

This does not fit a 2004 Porsche Cayenne as the description states. The overall width and holes are more than a 1/4” off.

Works perfectly for a 2007 VW Touareg
