Background - International Traveler & Senior CitizensI am purchasing this for my parents who are not native English speakers, and they are visiting us from abroad. While we can always translate for them when we go out together (dining, shopping, traveling), it would come handy if they can pull out a little survival device, preferably functional off-line, that helps them to quickly translate some texts or serves as a simple voice translator as needed.For our purposes, we need translations primarily between Mandarin Chinese and English. It would be beneficial if it can translate Spanish, Japanese and Korean since Spanish is popular here in sunbelt states and they might need to take transfer flight in Japan or Korea.I do have a pair of Google Earbuds, which boasts about their real-time AI translation feature. However, the earbuds cannot work independently without paring with a phone (preferably Android phones) and for text translation, they still need to use APPs like Google Translate or Google Lens. In situations like that, a standalone device is obviously a better choice. After some research, I narrowed the selections down to a few and tried them all out, and this one stood out for its reasonable price (at the time of purchase) and functionality.Features that we enjoy:1. Easy to use and good screen quality - It is quite intuitive to use the DOSMONO Pen, and the display is bright and clear to read. Lightweight and compact design, easy to carry around.2. Offline Translation - Very useful when Wi-Fi or cellular data is not available, such as on the airplane or in an airport with poor public Wi-Fi (such as LAX?).3. Accurate Recognition - We tested it mostly in printed texts and it works in various tilting angles (the pen suggests that vertical placement is the best) and recognizes the texts accurately and fast enough. Just slide through the texts in a smooth and normal speed line by line, it will automatically correct as it goes and merges the scans from different lines naturally.4. Good Text Translation - The translation quality between Chinese and English (both ways) are actually pretty good for basic/survival needs. There is a dictionary built-in so you can drill down to individual word. Can't make any judgements on other languages yet as I don't have such language skills. Happy to see reviews from other foreign language speakers. Fast response.5. Audio Quality - After each scan, the pen will read the text out, the English and Chinese pronunciation is very good, loud and clear.6. Memo/Note Taking - Though it is not my focus, it comes with some business/study tool such as the note taking function that allows you to quickly scan and save the texts as memo.7. USB Type C - Can't emphasize this enough as Type-C is everywhere now, and you don't need to bring an extra cable.SummaryOverall, I am pleased with this handy little translator device and would recommend it.

The media could not be loaded.  I just got this out the box and it’s not working The screen will not change from this Dosmono with the Chinese letters I have turned it back on and back off, connected to the charger and still nothing different. Plan on sending this back immediately.

I dislike to read long pages which makes my eyes tired. The pen can scan and read, also translate if I don't know the words. Really helpful!This pen contain more than 100 languages. I like travel, it can help me when I am in other country. Very light and small, convenient, easy to take . Can scan line by line also can take pics to translate a whole paragraph. It is a dictionary, phonetic translation and mp3. If link a WIFI, it also answer questions as Siri, pretty cool ~~~ love it!!!!

There seems to be no support for this device. I have email their contact address on the box and still after three days heard nothing back. The pen option for translating are great and seem to be accurate. The recording option is poor and offers no translation. The camera ability to translate in low light is very poor.The instructions included are very poor and online support is limited to YouTube videos that gloss over the functions.

In the past, I’d use a scanner if I needed to digitize documents or books, but often that was too much hassle, especially if I only needed a paragraph here and there. A friend introduced me to this scanning pen which made it simple to quickly scan on the go. It made taking notes really easy and I was able to extract key excerpts in a flash. From there it’s very easy to edit or share. To start with, I struggled a little with the scanning. After a little practice however, I found that you have to scan line by line at a constant speed, not too fast or slow. You can also scan multiple lines continuously without stopping. Occasionally, the first letter at the beginning of a sentence disappears but I figured out that the problem can be remedied as long as you scan some blank space before the first word. Overall, I am very satisfied with this product.

I got the item brand new and as soon as I took it out of the box to start charging it, it's not charging. I tried charging it using different cords with the same port and it didn't charge under those either.

I bought this item for a Korean student studying English.The quality of long sentence translation is moderate.But this is very useful because the user can immediately check the meaning and pronunciation of short words.I think that this is very good for the price.If this had a Korean-English dictionary, it would be better.It seems that this has only a Chinese-English dictionary.

Acquistata per i miei figli 2* e 3* elementare, perché ci siamo trasferiti all estero e non sapevano ancora esprimersi e comprendere bene l’inglese. La penna è molto veloce, precisa , li ha aiutati molto.

Mi è piaciuta subito l'idea di questo traduttore, compatto, leggero, con diverse funzionalità e tante lingue previste, uno strumento da portare con sé quando si viaggia all'estero ma anche da usare in casa, come aiuto per i compiti di mio figlio quando non riesce a tradurre bene testi scritti o per articoli che devo leggere da riviste in altre lingue.Aperta la confezione, provato subito per capirne le potenzialità, devo dire che sono rimasta un po' delusa dalle istruzioni, mi sembravano davvero ridotte (e non in italiano ma per fortuna in inglese) però ho riscontrato che il dispositivo è molto intuitivo quindi nessun problema.Usandolo per diversi giorni sia per il mio lavoro sia per aiutare mio figlio nella lettura in inglese, posso dire di averlo apprezzato per quanto concerne le traduzione di testi su carta; se il carattere non è troppo piccolo traduce bene, anche diverse righe insieme se si prosegue scorrendo la penna sul foglio, la traduzione si sente chiara e, per quanto provato ad oggi, risulta buona.Per la traduzione da voce, direttamente mentre si parla, serve l'attivazione di una connessione di rete e, se sono in giro, uso l'hotspot del mio smartphone.In questa modalità non mi sto ritrovando ancora benissimo, a mio avviso, saranno le pronunce non sempre perfette, ma non sempre a me risulta chiaro quanto viene tradotto e questo per me è un limite grande.Anche la modalità di selezione delle lingue per quanto intuitiva non è veloce, bisogna scorrere su una lista che non è in ordine alfabetico quindi un po' macchinosa se si vuole prima capire ciò che dicono e poi parlare io stessa e fare tradurre dalla penna.Ci sono poi diverse altre modalità, per me meno utili ma buono sapere che è possibile caricare MP3 (attraverso il cavo USB-C in dotazione) o registrare audio.Si ricarica facilmente con il cavo incluso (non presente l'alimentatore) e ha una buona durata; presente sul display un indicatore di ricarica così da sapere sempre il livello della batteria.Come pregio ulteriore va detto che il monitor è molto luminoso e si vede bene anche se la scrittura della traduzione non è grande. I tasti delle funzionalità invece sono molto evidenti e questo fa sì che si possano scegliere dal menù con estrema facilità.Il costo di questo dispositivo è secondo me un po' alto, poco meno di 140€ al momento in cui scrivo questa recensione (maggio 2023) ma credo sia uno strumento utile in diverse situazioni di studio, o ad esempio in vacanza se si è in paesi con lingue che non si conoscono o comunque in momenti in cui, anche se parlando si riceve una traduzione non sempre corretta, si ha tempo per riflettere e riprovare.Per questo il mio giudizio è 3 stelle, un valido aiuto in diverse circostanze per me nella modalità scansione da testo ma meno efficace per traduzioni immediate tra chi parla. Se nel tempo poi avessi ulteriori osservazioni sarà mia cura riportarle.Concludo inserendo anche qualche foto della confezione, delle istruzioni e della penna con il display che mostra alcune delle varie modalità e funzioni.
