Good replacement for Firex detectors
Replaced old Firex detectors and work well. I ordered the separate adapters which made install ready and relatively quick.

Sensitive to smoke to allow early evacuation or extinguishing of fire. Runs on 110v/and 9v battery
easy to install, my home had prewired outlets made for detectors that run on house whole current 110v. detectors have a 9v battery backup incase the power fails. So, you only need to replace the 9v batteries every 2 years instead of 1yr.These detectors are sensitive to the smallest bit of smoke, this is a good thing because it gives you extra time to extinguish the fire or get you and your family outside. These smoke detectors have the ability to activate the alarms of all of the other smoke detectors in the house, (with correct wiring) so everyone in the house is awakened.

Good value for 6
Good value for 6 - and that's exactly how many we need. Also includes the pig tail with their latest connector so pretty easy to install. Since there was already an old pig tail (with an old connector) we already had the wire nuts. They didn't need to include 6 instruction manuals (what a waste of paper) and Kiddie should add a quick-install guide. The actual instructions are buried in all the legalese/disclaimers/disclosures.And there's a usability design flaw. The center oval is a 2-sided switch. Press one side to "Hush" and press the other side to "Hold and Test." The text is imprinted on the switch - with just raised lettering - which is impossible to see/read in the dark - when it's mounted to a 10' ceiling. This isn't unique to Kiddie (or this model), but it needs a fix.So - we added a small green stick-on dot as a more visual queue, so we know which side of the switch to "Hush." Obviously then, the blank side is "Hold and Test." Would be great if Kiddie could add a better visual than just raised letter text. Also - since we do have 10' foot ceilings - we keep a centrally stored pool cue for testing (or hushing). Much easier than having to get the ladder out just for that ;-) Again - maybe Kiddie could add a telescoping wand that we could keep in the drawer instead. Maybe in the next model - for our need in 2033 ;-)

Where did 10 years go?
A big part of Einstein’s fame came from his work in relativity. Bah I say, as ANY human over the age of 40 can attest to time being relative.A week before I ordered these detectors, a couple of my detectors were driving me to Edgar Allen Poe level of macabre thinking due to their mind numbing and personality altering incessant chirping. They had never done that before, and I change the battery back up on a retentively consistent schedule. Why now are they taunting me with their infernal chirping?!?!? Alas! These stupid things go “bad” after about 10 years. An hour of my life lost to researching to learn this fact. So, a weird bit of detector trivia AND a reminder of how fast 10 years can pass were lessons gifted from my old detectors. My first approach to shutting up the olds ones was to simply disconnect them. I was reminded by my partner that this was not safe. My response was “only if you start fires. How many millennia did humans survive without detectors?” Oh boy, the glare I received from her immediately motivated me to order these replacement detectors.I installed them in under 15 minutes, half of that time spent fetching, lugging around, and setting up the ladder. For me, the connectors and brackets all worked, so did not have to use the spare parts sent with the product. They work perfectly. No more chirping. I even have the one near the kitchen set to a conveniently and ingeniously included setting that ignores common kitchen emissions. No comment on our cooking inability - just saying that this is a nice feature. No more beeping that took me to the brink of bad crazy. Sanity, and I suppose safety, restored. Five stars.

Good, reliable, set of smoke alarms, with a clever battery compartment design.
These smoke alarms worked perfectly to replace my expired ones. We've got a hard-wired system of six alarms and, once installed, all worked together, as they should. One thing I especially like about this design is the battery compartment. My previous alarms required me to remove the alarm from the wall-mount to get to the battery compartment, which is only accessible on the back of the alarm. On these new ones, the compartment is accessed at the front of the alarm. Not only that, but all you have to do is press and release the indicated end of the compartment and the entire battery holder springs open, letting you remove/replace or test the batteries so easily. The test method is fairly clever. You can test individual alarms with a short press of the Test button and test the entire hardwired system by pressing the button just a second or two longer. For the system test, the alarm you use to test turns off first, letting you hear if other alarms got the signal. This makes it easier (or even possible) to test your system by yourself. And I know at least one works "in real life", as I created a little too much smoke in the kitchen a couple times, and the alarms let me know. We've had these for about a year and no failures. I'm very happy with this purchase. It was also nice that they have 2- and 4-pack options, which save money over buying individual alarms.

great detector at a great price
had a bad one in the bedroom. did not like the cold when we left the door open at night and since all the detectors are linked together woke the whole house up at 5am three mornings in a row. simple to replace just twist, unplug then install in reverse order with the new one and away you go
