Works like a champ
I was having trouble figuring out why my new fancy projector wasn't working in 4K. I had an 5 year old projector that I was upgrading to a new Epson 5050. The HDMI cable might have been a hair long @ 50', but it has to go up into the attic, over, and then back down to the projector, so originally I "cheated" and decided longer was better. When I powered up the 5050, I got a basic picture and then went to test the signal quality. To my dismay, it said it got enough quality for 1080, but when I went to test 4K, it was unable to see a picture. Serious bummer. When I tested with a shorter cord it worked perfectly, so I knew I had a distance problem.I purchased this without high expectations to see if I could get lucky. I was concerned that since there was no additional power supply, I couldn't imagine I would get much of an improvement. I wouldn't have anyway to get power to something halfway through the run, and this seemed like the only shot, albeit a long one. Sure enough, when I chained 2 x 25' cables (total of 50'), I again received no signal and began to curse my unfounded optimism.I saw that there was tiny writing on the back of the coupler and was curious what the manufacturers' "fine print" would be. I then put my glasses on and, to my embarrassment, it was not fine print but rather instructions for the intemperate idiot. Indeed, one port was marked input and the other output, though I was still a bit skeptical. I switched the couple around, still trying to keep m,y expectations in check.Lo an behold, I received an image. I quickly fired up Netflix, found the first 4K movie I could find, and sure enough the image looked like I was looking through a window at the barrier reef. I fired up the XBOX and asked it to check for quality and not only did it say 4K was good but I was good for something called HDR10 - whatever that is.In the end, I'm overwhelmed at the result and very pleased with this device. I still have to pull the new cables through the attic, but this little machine saved what would have been a serious letdown. I'm not sure how it's doing what it's doing without a separate power source, but in the end I don't have to.It's also a reminder to have a little faith and always wear my glasses . . . .

J-tech saves the day!!
I bought last year's model and it did not work. I then called in to J-Tech and they told me to buy new 2017 model. I bought that and it still did not work. I became very frustrated and reached out to the DVD player manufacturer Oppo Digital. They recommended I buy Pixelgen cables since I was running a 50 feet cable from my Oppo UDP-203 4K Blu-ray around the wall to my JVC front Projector DLA-RS540U. So I called and talked to Pixelgen and they told me from their experience, I have to use a passive 50 ft cable. They they carry such a compatible cable to mate with the JVC. I ordered it. waited anxiously for roughly four days for Fedex to deliver. Then it showed up on my front door. The installer and I hooked the cable from the Oppo to the projector and ....It works...!!! That was a snapshot of my ordeal in this two month's worth of this install .In summary:If you have to run a 25 to 50 feet cable from a 4K source to a front projector, you will save a lot of money and time by buying this J-tech repeater COUPLED with the $100 Pixelgen high-grade passive cable to transfer the 4K images to the 4K compliantfront projector. You turn on the source components first and turn the front projector LAST for them to shake hands. BTW, I bought the front screen from Amazon also, the STR silver ticket 4K 120 inches grey material for $300. This screen is even watchable in moderate ambient lighting. I am very satisfied with this screen. Don't waste your money with those 2 to $4000 screens until you try this first. i wouldn't have believed it until I have been watching it for the past three four months. I have thoroughly enjoyed my theater setup. The picture and joy have been worth the money, time and effort putting this theater room/smoking room together. I am also glad to have gone with the JVC even though it is expensive. But every time I fire up this system, I am glad I went with the JVC. But..., without the J-tech Repeater, I would have to spend $700 or so getting those 4K images transmitted from the Oppo to the JVC.Highly, highly recommended.

works great
I was having problems in getting my Apple TV to work in the highest quality 4k video mode with my LG TV.I have 3 cable runs in my setup: from a home theater amp to the wall, then a cable-to-cable connector, then a cable through the wall, another cable-to-cable connector and finally a cable to the TV.Adding this repeater before the last cable run solved my problem. I also enjoy the fact that it requires no dedicated power supply and supports ARC (Audio Return Channel - that allows me to send the TV audio back to my home theater amplifier).

Did nothing, no improvement
Simply did not help. Using a Dell XPS L702X tied to a ceiling-mounted projector via 40 foot, thick gauge HDMI cable. Regardless which end of the cable this repeater was installed, it did not improve the signal at all.
