Very useful device
This device dampens heat transfer from stove heat to cooking vessel. I initially purchased this for one purpose, to use with a clay Tangine that could crack if exposed to rapid heat changes. It works great.Additionally, since it transfers heat more smoothly (no hot spots), soups and sauces do not get scorching on metal pot bottoms. It also rapidly reduces defrosting times for frozen food as it quickly pulls the cold from frozen food.Expensive, but much more useful than I originally expected. Highly recommended.

Seems to work great
I can’t say if it’s saved my pans from the open flame because I already ruined my pans but his seems to be preventing further damage. I never use it on high heat though either. Nice and sturdy and cleans up well

Cooking Tool I Never Knew I Needed - A Game Changer
Wonderful diffuser. I bought it for cooking with a tagine but now use it for everyday cooking because of the control it gives me regulating the heat on my gas stove.Only complaint is that it stains easily and the stains are hard if not impossible to clean.

Great heat diffuser and meat thawing tool
I use it for two things. One is diffusing the heat from my gas stove onto glass, ceramic, or enameled cast iron pots with a flat bottom. My gas stove is a ring of fire making the center of the pot cooler than its around. I also warm up these pots with leftover and kept in the fridge overnight. I put the diffuser on my granite kitchen counter and then put the pot on it. You can feel the granite around the diffuser chilled quickly. That helps reduce the thermal shock if the cold pot was put on the flame directly out from the fridge. The second use is to thaw those vacuum sealed ground beef one pound packs I got from from those wholesale clubs. Never knew they could thaw so quickly. They do stain if there's boil over and the stains don't come out because the surface is kind of matte textured. I just have to train myself not to pay attention to that. Great gadget to have for ceramic and enameled cookwares.

No more ruined pots!
We have propane stove and it destroys your pots. I also use a three inch cast iron skillet for my homemade McMuffins lol I can have it on the edge of the diffuser, and the egg still cooks evenly. Yes, if you get something on it and it bakes in, it may not come off. But, I don't mind the tiny spots.

warped after a couple of months
It worked great for a few weeks... until it didn't. First, it warped to a bowl shape, so my cookware couldn't sit on it while maintaining contact. Then, it got into a weird crooked twisted shape, and I can't even use it, because it can't maintain contact with the cookware AND it wobbles. There are multiple other reviews stating that it warps, I wish I had seen them before buying.also, very difficult to clean.
