One Perfect Summer

One of the best books I've read this year!
OMG, I don't know if words can describe how much I loved this book! It was so good I barely got any sleep while reading it because I didn't want to put it down. I experienced so many different emotions: love, happiness, sadness, pain, fear, laughter, joy, it was just that good. Reading about the love that Alice and Joe had for another, the relationship and feelings they developed after one summer together just blew me away. It made me remember my first love, how intense my feelings were, and how whenever we were apart I couldn't wait to see him again. This was such a beautiful story, I'm definitely going to read more books by this author!!

Loved it but felt it ended too rushed
I truly enjoyed this story. It was sweet, angsty, romantic and captivating. Loved the environments. However, the ending was so rushed, especially considering the slow pace in the storytelling ( that I loved). The result was that I got no real closure of some parts. But it was a good read nonetheless.

Wow what a book.
This author should get more recognition than all the big names like Nora Roberts who charge so much and delivers books that have already been published with a different cover.Every book this author writes could be made into a movie their that good .

Loved it...
Another wonderful story by my favorite author, she has the ability to take you on a ride through story telling which makes her books ADDICTIVE as you can never ever get enough!!

One Perfect Summer
Not as good as the Daisy books but entertaining enough. The last 30% of the book was rushed but I liked that. It worked somehow.

Great book but...
The ending was such a let down. It ended too soon without much explanation. one can only hope that's because there will be another book...

Pleasant read
Very sweet love story and would be perfect to take to the beach! I really hope there is a sequel - I would love to know what happens next.

Only the best from Paige Toon
The fact that I read this book in a weekend explains a lot! I couldn't put it down and loved every part of the story! I'm sad now as I await another page turner from Paige Toon!

Wonderful
Really did enjoy this book, didn’t want it to end. Wonderful story, great characters. Having read some of Paige’s books out of order I was aware of these characters, which I realised half way through the book, spoilt it for me a little as I new what the outcome was, didn’t stop me from reading though, and still enjoying. Just make sure you read them in order of release dates. See Paige’s website for details.

Not the best from this author
I'm not sure how I felt about this book. Wasn't my favourite. I liked the beginning and really felt the emotions and got swept up in the story. Once it shifted to later on though, it all seemed to become so unrealistic. The rich German storyline I didn't like and joe becoming a movie star was all a bit far fetched. Glad she finally found him but it was all a bit annoying. Going to read the Christmas one next and hopefully that will give me a more satisfying ending.

A great story
A great book, I loved reading the story of Joe, the little bit of his character that we saw in one of Paige Toon's earlier books Baby be mine had me intrigued.Alice meets Joe on a family holiday in Dorset but circumstances separate them following their intense affair. Alice struggles to move on when she attends university, hoping that one day Joe would come for her. The months pass and eventually Alice starts to live again with the help of her friends and the enigmatic Lukas. Something is constantly missing in Alice's life but a surprising discovery throws Alice's life into chaos, will she ever be able to forget Joe?I loved the characters in this book apart from Lukas and the Joe's family. It's on of those books that keeps you up at night until you've read the whole thing. The story is so compelling, the romance is beautiful between Joe and Alice but the ending knocked me for six.

Paige Toon will leave you wanting the next book!
I only discovered Paige Toon a few months ago and read Johnny Be Good and Baby be mine within a matter of weeks. Following on from that I made sure I had a few more of her back catalogue to read in the future. Her new release One Perfect Summer was released on the 10th May 2012 and I was looking forward to reading it.Alice is 18 and takes a summer trip with her parents down to Dorset. She happens to meet a young man Joe who steals her heart. However, after reading the first few chapters it becomes clear that Joe's life is not that idyllic and Alice realises that although she has fallen for him, things will not be easy. Joe is an absolute sweetheart of a character and I adored him and him and Alice's relationship. However, before long things go wrong and Alice ends up leaving Dorset to make her way to Cambridge to start University. The one thing that is different is the fact that she leaves broken hearted and without Joe.We see her life move on to the next phase and although I was disappointed that we do not see Joe Alice grows on me and we see her settle into University life with her friends. Some of the other characters we meet are fun and very readable such as Jessie. Before long Alice meets Lukas a German student who is studying at a nearby university. Lukas is a rich boy who sweeps Alice off her feet to a certain degree. The second half of the book is spent watching Alice move on with her life and what happens to her next. Lukas is not a nice character and I spent half of the time asking myself what Alice was playing at. But as the story continues you can see the predicament she has got herself into and things start to become if not clearer certainly a lot more understandable. As usual with a Paige Toon book she draws you in with her easy writing style and knack of telling a story that is sometimes bittersweet. The best part of the book for me was without a doubt the ending. Paige Toon has done once again what she managed to do with the book Johnny Be Good, which is leave the reader on a slight cliff-hanger with a big question mark. I can only hope that there is a follow up to this, otherwise it's an unnecessarily cruel ending for us fans. This book will certainly keep you reading, and at the end you will certainly be left wanting more.

Not the best book
No hiccups with delivery, came in good condition. As for the book... I'm a huge Paige Toon fan but this is definitely my least favourite book. Because it covers a lot of timeline a lot of it felt rushed, and the parts that weren't rushed weren't very interesting. So I'm slightly dissapointed but I love all her other books so recommend any other than this one.
