One of my main cameras was given to me with only one battery and a wall charger that makes you take the battery off the camera to charge it. For shorter use, this is fine, but I make nature videos as a side project, and needed the camera to stay recording for a lot longer than the single battery allowed. With this cord, I can power the camera directly now instead of for only 30 minutes every 2 hours with the single old battery. I've had it for a few days and it works perfectly so far. I also bought a couple of extra higher capacity batteries on Amazon at the same time, so now I can charge two batteries at once if I leave one on the camera while it's plugged in. Very useful if I need to take the camera off direct power from the cord.Make sure you check the model list before buying this cord to be sure it fits your camera! I almost bought a different one that would not have fit mine! This one does fit a Sony Handycam HDR-XR150, as listed in its description.
