The Apocalypse Now Book

This is probably the best book available on the inside story of how "Apocalypse Now" got made. I am a huge fan of this movie, i own the DVD (and i rarely buy DVD's) that includes both the original, and "Redux" version. I also own "Hearts of Darkness" - the documentary DVD made by Coppola's wife about the production of the movie.This book is almost a companion to "Darkness". Plenty of details about what Coppola had to do to get it made, how he financed it, and what it was like working with a 300 pound, half-mad Marlon Brando who wouldn't follow the script!If you're a fan of the movie, this book is for you - you won't be disappointed.

Un perfecto complemento al documental de 1991 que hiciera la esposa de Francis Ford Coppola, un libro que no debería pasar por alto a aquellos que les encanta esta película.

This book is a must read for any fan of Apocalypse Now. It goes into detail about the creation of the movie and offers interesting insights into the pre-production process, including excepts from transcripts of conversation between Coppola and Brando about the Kurtz character. The rest of the book is filled with a ton of information. There is a great section on the different cuts of the film, including a look at the 5 hour rough cut. This book makes a great companion when viewing Apocalypse Now Redux.

You can find many books about the Godfather, but only a few analyzing Apocalypse. So fortunately this is a great presentation for fans. AND check out some of the Youtube video discussions. There are some great ones!!!!

This is just what my Grandson wanted, he really enjoyed reading it.

I enjoyed this book, but it lacked a lot of the details I was craving. For instance, I would have loved an in-depth analysis of the 4.5 hour Assembly Cut, but it's sorely lacking in details as far as the differences (many which are VERY noteworthy). This book is perfectly fine for newbies, but fanatics like myself will be left craving much more.

Great book on best film ever

The pictures were grainy and hard to see.

Great insight to a classic film, the story, the characters and a way the director was thinking and possible scenarios that didn't come to fruition.

Any Fan of Apocalypse Now will like this book, it tells the story of the making of the movie and all the issues that arose to get it to the big screen, some great black and white photos usually no seen from the movie. Movie shipped from UK shipping envelope was not that great so the book got a little dogged ear. Besides that it is all good. You won't be disappointed.

Another great book from the same author of the Godfather book as with that book this book is also great and just as insightful.
