Excellent Product
My boy has had a nasty case of thrush with a couple of abcesses this summer that we (trainer, vet, farrier, and I) have been working to clear up. At last trim, we put shoes back on the fronts and will do so on the back at the next trim. In the interim, we have been looking for something to help keep his feet clean and kill any lurking bacteria. The farrier recommended a product that required a 45 minute soak (per foot) and then a 45 minute standing period with bag over the soaked foot. Sigh. I don't know about your horse, but mine is not all about standing around with his foot in a boot. Moreover, with his very soft hooves I am not sure that standing in water for 45 minutes is going to help them. Yes, I have the product. It is in the refrigerator for just in case. As an alternative, I needed something that would clean the foot and could be used as a soak. I picked this up--along with then hoof hardener and gel--to use on a regular basis. I keep a spray bottle full in my tack box and clean the outside of his hoof starting above the hoof line and then spray the bottoms after I have picked and cleaned them. Thus far I have not had to use it as a soak, but it is gentle enough that I have zero fear of using it (along with requiring only a 5 - 10 minute soak). I can also pour some into a cup and use a syringe to get into the deeper crevices on his feet. I have also done one application of Thrush Buster. His feet look marvelous. Better than they have ever looked. It is likely that next week I will start with the hoof hardener and gel--along with another application of Thrush Buster just to make sure we are done with nasties. It's a wonderful product.

Works!
During our rainy winters, our draft loves to splash in muddy puddles. He gets white line problems in his hooves. So, when the farrier and vet both start getting anxious about his annual hoof problems, I start giving him a pedi-soak once per week in keratex diluted to the recommended strength. He stays clear of white line all winter. The stuff works, and doesn't smell bad, and is less expensive than betadine. Recommended.
