I Love Watermelon
I LOVE watermelon and cut up about two a week. I first used the slicer on a cantaloupe and it worked really well. I like the way it slices just off the rind so you don't cut into it at all. My husband bought a HUGE watermelon so that might have been my problem with it while using it on the watermelon. It would slice down into the 'meat' of the watermelon just fine, but then about half way through the cut would kind of get stuck. Again this was a BIG watermelon. After working it a little would start cutting again. You are suppose to be able to flip the slicer over and squeeze the slice to pull out - I couldn't get this to work very well. The slicer wouldn't 'grab' the melon, it would just slide off. I did like the handle - the rubber coating makes it easy to grip and hold on to. Again it cuts away from the rind so you don't get any of the white part on your slices. I cut the watermelon both directions and then just dumped it into a bowl. Leaves the rind to be used for a fruit bowl for your cut up watermelon.

No - No - and No
I was so excited to try this when I first saw it, but for me, it did not work and is going to end up in the donation bag for someone else to try.The first issue is: it isn't sharp - not even a little. The second issue is: it has a rod on the tip that joins the two sides. This rod is also not sharp and it does not slice into the melon easily. The third issue is: assuming that issues 1 & 2 didn't exist, this item still isn't ideal for cutting smaller or round melons and would be better suited for larger, oblong melons. The size of the cutting device just doesn't give a round melon enough area to even get into it.After an epic fail at cutting up melon with this, I reverted to my trusty sharp kitchen knife - which never fails.I received this item at a discount in exchange for an honest review. Would I buy it again - absolutely not.

Nifty product, Cut up a watermelon in half the time.
We are a family of fruit eaters and watermelon is a family favorite during picnics, barbecues during summer months.I was very happy with the opportunity, when I was given a discount on this product in return for an honest review. The slicer has an interesting design, it does not have very sharp surfaces so there is no risk of cutting your hand. The bulk of the work is done by the wire at the end.It is very lightweight and fits in our knife drawer. Not too bulky. When you dig in, the knife enters smoothly, after just a couple of slices I could sense how deep I needed to go to get all the fruit. If you go to deep, you can sense the knife sticking but it is not a big deal. You get uses to the right depth very quickly. You can cut just lengths or cut in both direction for even and beautiful looking cubes.Overall, I am very pleased with this interesting design and I feel I can make watermelon cubes in half the time than it takes with a knife. The cubes are better looking too.

Love the watermelon slicer and server
The watermelon slicer is amazing. It did just what it was supposed to do. It really does make slicing the watermelon more easy any you have pretty cuts. I also used it on other melons and it worked just as good on them.

Avoid
I have seen these on many websites, usually 2-3 dollars (Wish), so I would never pay more than that. Many with better looking handles. The tool itself works, but in the end, it really is pretty useless as most watermelon you may get a few slices out of it before you still have to cut it apart. Between the inflated price and the quick novelty and lack of functionality, I would avoid wasting money on this item.
