Great construction, easy to use! Cuts easily through the banner material. This works backwards from other machines. The big partnof the grommet goes on top, I bought one before and sent it back (I am so embarrased!) You will be so glad you bought this one! I'vs had to buy other ones repeatedly, not with this one!

This is a quality tool. The fit and finish are very good and alignment of the dies are perfect, unlike a similar tool I recently purchased. This unit will punch the hole through the material and set the grommet in one stroke. The dies are designed upside down of most others I see for sale. I was very slightly disappointed that they didn't sell dies for size #1 but I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that dies from other presses fit in this unit by lifting out the lower spacer. I now have purchased multiple dies of different sizes that fit this press. The upper shaft has the standard internal 8mm thread and the lower spacer has a 12 mm hole but when you remove that you have a 19 mm hole which seems to be the standard for available dies online. Pros of the dies that come with this set are that they can do the job in one stroke. Also, the dies are built to stop themselves at a perfect spot so no stop is needed. Cons are that they must have a grommet installed to punch the hole but some materials slightly affect the perfection of roll over. If the material you are using does this, punch part way and remove the plug, then finish the set you get a smoother roll over of the grommet. Available dies from other units need to have the hole punched first but most of them can punch the hole without a grommet installed, after which you install the grommet in that hole. Be aware that grommets come in several sizing systems. Gauge #0,1,2,4 etc but also in metric (mm) and fractional (1/4", 5/16" etc). Some are close enough to work with each other but some are not. If you are satisfied with the sizes that come with this unit, you are "set". Buy this unit, you will like it!

I bought this with the base thinking it would be easier to use with a level work surface across the bottom of the setter. The setter itself is awesome. I predominantly set grommets for cosplay costumes and this is BY FAR better than the hand clamp or hammer method. 5% of the work for 120% of the result. Yes, that IS the math I'm giving it. They come out consistently clean and not beat up, no pounding. I did 26 in under 30 minutes.The base though, is another story. One wheel was off, as the teeny tiny bracket that held it in place had come off. I found it in the packaging and eventually managed to wrangle it back on. Only to find out the predrilled holes that you place the bolts thru to fasten the setter to the base are completely out of alignment and are useless. So, no base for me. The setter is awesome enough though, that I just wrote off the expense of the base and tossed it. I needed to set grommets for a corset that weekend and didn't want to wait for an exchange.I feel like the included grommets are a bit flimsy, but for what I use them for, are just fine. It will be 50 years before I go thru the several hundred included.

this tool was extremely hard for me to use at first. I wasnt strong enough to push the handle down to set the grommets.husband put it on a very low (homemade) table, so that I can stand up and push the handle. Made it much easier for me to be able to use.Sets grommets great.Seems to work best with medium to heavy weight fabrics, not as good with thinner fabrics.It is very heavy! you dont want to be picking it up and moving it around!I use it a lot with my sewing business.Have already used most of the grommets and purchased more

The machine and base were easy to assemble. It cuts a clean, professional hole with the insertion of the grommet. Easy to change the dies!

Works great for what I have to do with it. I was using a hammer and die previously and would mess up on them occasionally. This gets it right every time!It doesn't cut through the fabric, but works good when I get the fabric and put the grommet through by hand.
