Learn To Draw A Graffiti Master-Piece: Your Essential Guide To Tags, Bubble Letters, Wildstyle, Layout And Piecing

This is an actual how-to book on forming the letters for tags, bubble letters, wildstyle, and forming words.The Graffiti Diplomacy crew has done a thorough job on giving the basics for three letter styles. They also offer advice on gathering practice materials which won't drain your wallet. If you decide to get this book, follow the authors' advice and read through ALL of it before beginning to draw.If you are looking for graffiti "theory" (oh yeah, it's a thing), you will not find it here. There are other books and videos which offer the history and reasons behind the art. Some aspects of design theory are offered, which is good, as one of the strict rules of an art which eschews rules is balance and symmetry.My advice as a person coming from cartooning to graffiti is to get an inexpensive composition book, wide-ruled, preferably made in Vietnam (paper quality is better). The lined paper will greatly help in keeping the letters even. The authors recommend cheap copy paper, but a comp book will not only give you guidelines, but give you a record of your progress.As good as this book is, if you think you can go be a "writer" immediately after reading it, think again. Graffiti letter creation is drawing. Drawing is a skill; it CAN be learned. BUT, you have to practice, practice, practice. The authors do say this, but it cannot hurt to drive it home: this art takes a LOT of practice. Don't show balance, symmetry and good craftsmanship, and you will always be a hapless "toy".

There are only a few graffiti-drawing related books out there. This is great. It's good for children and really helps to develop basic skills and to acquaint oneself with certain terminology. This teaches different styles of lettering, one letter at a time, and gives style and coloring tips as well. While other books may be more colorful and more about the art of graffiti, this is really like a beginner's workbook. And it's worth mentioning that this probably isn't great for those with intermediate skills. This book along with some useful tips and videos from internet users are the perfect springboard to mastering this art.

My cousins' kids love this book. Teaches basic graffiti techniques. It's more like a calligraphy book that teaches "urban" calligraphy. It does not encourage readers to go out and exercise their newfound love for graffiti all over the city. This is a very vanilla graffiti guide. Perfect for kids.

a little disappointed. I wish the book had a full alphabet in the style letters they are explaining. A lot of great info but I would rather see examples and then put my own spin. This book has example on only a few letters.

The book to me was ok it's has a lot of imfo but not on the type of graffiti I was looking for cause it had like 2 types of graffiti but like the type seen in middle school

Great how to book on the basics of graffiti. Perfect illustrations and instructions on how to draw. My son is an aspiring artist and this was one technique he wanted to learn. Very pleased with this and looking forward to seeing him develop from this book

Let's be honest, graffiti has it's flow and you will find your own style. I am already "efficient" in the art of graffiti, however I purchased this to experiment with letter styling on paper. I appreciate the way they have broken things down and it has some very useful tips. Although I'm using it to go from airbrush and spray paint to pen and paper, I do feel it would be useful for beginners who would like to practice on paper to find their style.

Excelente libro. Te guía paso a paso para iniciarte en el mundo de los Tags. Lo recomiendo para quienes estén empezando en esto del graffiti.

Esse livro é ótimo pra quem quer aprender passo a passo, ele explica como construir as letras e também como "desconstruir" pra deixar ela no estilo que você quiser. Ele é todo em branco preto e mastiga bem todas as etapas da construção de letras, até a criação de artes maiores. Vale a pena pelo caminho que ele sugere. O resto é prática.
