Nice controller interface :)
This thing works like a charm, and has more than enough inputs for a mame cabinet. I still have room for two more buttons on the board if I need them. Tested this controller and it's very responsive, and has no noticeable delay. Under windows 7, it's recognized as a game controller; I've yet to test the limit on simultaneous key presses, but there shouldn't be a problem, since this isn't a keyboard encoder. The board itself is tiny! you will have no problem finding space to mount it in your panel; it's about the size of a sugar packet! they are kind enough to include a pair of plastic mounting brackets as well.I especially appreciate the wiring harnesses that they give you, all the leads are pre-crimped with spade connectors, while all the wires are black, I'll be labeling all the leads as I hook them up. they hook up via pin headers, rather than screw terminals, but you could always pick up a screw terminal block from the hardware store or radio shack, and splice in the harnesses if you want to do so. It comes with documentation, but it's rather spartan. Luckily, Jammaboards.com has a good schematic that tells you how to hook everything up (including pin layout for PS3 use, which the included sheet lacks) you can find it here: [...]All in all, this little guy rocks. It can't handle a trackball like a mini-pac, even tough it looks similar, but I use a standaline trackball, so it's all good, and unlike the mini-pac, it's not a keyboard encoder, so, bonus!

Nice arcade controller but has some issues with Windows
I was not able to use this one fully with a windows machine; it works better with a PI (as long as you modify some system files and USB descriptors), but with windows it just show as 1 controller, so you can only use half of the controls.Other than that it works fine; seems to be a variant of a chinese product; I went on the original website and the PCB looks different but the parts looks the same, and same goes for functionalities. The seller was helpful in trying to help with the setup, so if you need a hand you are not alone.

NOT FOR AMERICAN STYLE MICROSWITCHES! Happ and Zippy friends need to looks elsewhere
I read that this was used with happ buttons and checked the harness sent from the RetroArcade website and it was indeed for American style .187 switches. But the wiring harness sent to me is for the much smaller Japanese connections and thus useless to me. Either all of these reviewers have japanese sticks, or the Amazon vendor changed which harness they send without bothering to mention it. I'm probably going to pony up and order a GP-Wiz from groovy game gear. Expensive, but high end quality and I'm tired of Amazon surprises. If you really want a cheap gamepad controller like this one, I would check elsewhere. Be sure the vendor explicitly states that the harness is for the sylte of switches you have. And in case the description changes, I'd like to be clear that as of this moment, there is no reference to the Japanese style connection size.

Good product, but won't work with Raspberry Pie
While it works, it did not work for my intended use because of the availability of Drivers. I bought it to be used with a Raspberry Pie 2 running RetroPie and Emulation Station for retro gaming. This will not work with the Raspberry Pi unless you already have drivers and know how to install them. I'm not great with Linux so writing a driver is way beyond me and couldn't find one that would work. Also note others have said it will work and linked to tutorials to install drivers. I couldn't get these drivers to work with RetroPie.If you're using it with Windows however, go for it as it will work and build quality is good.

This is pretty OK. I have a few complaints.
Pros:- THIS LET ME BUILD A HOME-MADE JOYSTICK TO CONTROL VIDEO GAMES! AWESOME!!!- I was able to work around the issues below by using improper wiring and remapping everything software side.Cons:- Pressing any cardinal direction will send a hat change and an axis changed command (so you'll move 2 spots over in the menu of $GAME instead of one)- Holding a cardinal direction will send a hat change, then the axis will bounce between the direction and neutral (kinda like turbo mode). When you release the direction, it sends "hat is back in neutral" and stops spamming axis changes.- This 'bounce' on the axis makes your favorite side scrolling Italian plumber do a weird oscillating walk. It's amusing the first time, but becomes frustrating if you actually want to beat a level.- Button 4 is stuck in turbo mode?

Great for your arcade project.
I purchased this controller to go with a happ arcade control kit for a mame arcade I was building. The chip is very small and easy to work with. I have16 buttons and 2 8way joysticks wired in and still have open pins. The diagram on jammaboards.com made installation a breeze.

Someone with a good baseline knowledge of computers and controllers will figure it ...
*WARNING* This comes with no instructions. I found the necessary guidelines online, but if you think its a simple plug and play device, it isn't. However....It isn't overly complex. Someone with a good baseline knowledge of computers and controllers will figure it out. My PC has had no problems acknowledging it. I have run into one emulator that doesn't seem to like it. All things considered, a fun little DIY kit for controller building

Useless on Virtual Pinball or Non Key-Bind Gaming Programs
Excellent if I were running only MAME. It is, as noted, NOT a keyboard emulator, so yes...useless on Virtual Pinball or other programs where you cannot Bind the controls. It was cheap enough I don't mind it turned out as useless for me. You may love the Joystick/button interface, as I said...not good for my application but a nice product.
