Blue-Eyed Devil

The end of the road for Cole and Hitch...
... because Parker died before he could do another one. This is the fourth in the series about lawmen/gunslingers Cole & Hitch, and, like the others, is great fun. Laconic, a bit ignorant (Cole), but trying to do the right thing: Spenser in the WIld West. I love these books and have read them several times (they don't take long).

A good read
As another chapter in the lives of Virgil & Everett this is an efficient and enjoyable read. There is nothing really fresh or new, but is that what you want or need from a 21st-century Western? Probably not and I would have read about their further adventures if there were to be any.

Cole and Hitch, we sure will miss you
Just when Parker's two Western heroes were reaching the peak of their maturity, the author sadly passed away. As the book cover aptly suggests, Cole and Hitch will now fade into the sunset forever. This is their last ride together and an excellent book. They will be greatly missed and so will Robert B. Parker.

Another action packed Cole and Hitch western novel fans of the series will love.
If you are a fan of the Marshal Virgil Cole and Deputy Marshal Everett Hitch series you will enjoy reading this 276 page hardcover book (Blue-Eyed Devil a Cole and Hitch western novel by Robert B. Parker). In this tale, Cole and Hitch are no longer law officers for Appaloosa and the town is run by a corrupt and ambitious police chief named Amos Callico. There is plenty of action in this western novel with lots of gun play involving Cole and Everett. An attack on the growing town of Appaloosa by renegade Indians comes close to burning down the entire town, but Cole and Hitch along with help from another gun man save the town. There are a lot of twists and turns and there is a shootout at the end that makes everything work out in the end. I never give away too much when reviewing a novel because it spoils it for anyone who is considering reading the book. If you like action westerns you may want to check out this book, which you can get on Amazon for a bargain price.Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Chair/Seated Use of the Martial Art Ring (wood and metal) for seniors and the physically challenged: A Quick Course Guide).

Appaloosa Redux
They`re back in Appaloosa, Cole, Hitch and Allie, along with characters from previous books, Cato and Rose from "Resolution", Pony and Laurel from "Brimstone". This time they`re up against the police chief and his gang of deputies; a former Confederate general and rancher who, along with a hired gunslinger has a score to settle with Virgil, and a bunch of murderous Indians. Not a spoiler to figure out who wins.I was sorry to see this series end, just as I hated to see the last of Jesse Stone and Spencer. Beware of additional books in these series, the title of which begins ,"Robert B Parker`s ..." They`re by authors cashing in on Parker`s reputation. They may be good, I don`t know, I haven`t read them, but it`s safe to say they`re no Parker. Nobody is.

Toll geschrieben.
