Why Do Leaves Change Color? (Let's-Read-and-Find-Out Science 2) Paperback – Picture Book, August 4, 2015

I loved using this book to help teach at my co-op kindergarten class about leaves. ❤️ The kids enjoyed it.

I used this book for a lesson in my fall unit. My students loved learning about why the leaves change colors in the fall. I would recommend this book for educators.

We love this series: Let's-Read-and-Find-Out Science. We homeschool, so this is a wonderful series for information gathering. Not only is the information easy to understand and apply, but a lot of the books include experiments or activities to reinforce the information. We check a lot of the series out at the library, but I'm glad to be adding a few of them to our home library.

Great book! Informative and well written. The illustrations are beautiful too. A good book for a science unit for Autumn, trees and leaves.

I used this book in my classroom and was impressed by the illustrations and the detailed explanation on how leaves change their colors. It is appropriate for ages 5-9 and a great book to use when introducing the Seasons and/or Autumn.

I used this book this semester while student teaching with a Kinder class. The kids really loved the illustrations, and the explanation of why the leaves fall. They were fascinated with the explanation of the pigment for red, yellow, and orange already being there. I'd reccomend it with older children too, as they might enjoy the science behind it even more, and there's more opportunities to actually have them describe the leaves and observe leaves in a section the way the book shows us we can.

I'm a prayer partner with Kid's Hope USA for a student that my church sponsors, so I periodically buy penny plus postage books for him. The child's mentor reported that he was delighted with the Betsy Maestro's book, which arrived just in time to explain the reason why autumn leaves change color. .

Ordered this as part of a project to give books to underserved first and second- graders. This was the "middle" reading level choice of our teacher-advisors. We paired it with a leaf mosaic craft project, and it was a big success in at least 3 second grade and 6 first grade classrooms.
