X-Acto X7761 Self-healing cutting mat, nonslip bottom, 1 grid, 12-Inch by 18-Inch board with 11-Inch by 17-Inch measuring surface, gray

It doesn't matter if you use it for crafting or leather. The self-healing properties of this mat works for me.Of course, it will make a difference according to how hard you press down or the material you are using.This worked for me and the purpose I intended for itI know I can't tell you the purpose, but you know what you what to use it for, so take that into consideration and decide if this is what you need.It worked for what I needed and if you need a self-healing pad, I can highly recommend this pad.

Works well

I mean it was really well packaged! It was together with a large sheet of cardboard in a bag, and also in a large box. It arrived completely intact. And I'm happy with it. Its size is smaller than indicated. But I like the quality. I cut paper on the rug. Light scratches are slightly noticeable, but it is not felt under the finger.I also do a lot of work on the rug. And this gray color relaxes the tension in the eyes. I also like that the other side does not contain any markup, it is homogeneous. This works for me because I don't always need markup.

It is large, sturdy, mat. Nice to work on but it is not a self healing mat when I used a rotary cutter.

Great little mat, I like the greyish color as when I am working with fishing hooks and other darker objects that color provides a nice soft contrast to smaller items.It is just like any self healing cutting mat, you put too much pressure using a utility knife, you will leave a scar in the plastic, but nothing that would affect the performance of the mat or allow damage below the mat.

This mat is perfect for rolling out clay. I use a dusting of cornstarch and the clay doesn't stick and clean up is easy, just spray a little water and wipe it off. I am very satisfied, will recommend it to others.

First off, I'm one of the people out there who research most purchases. I try to compare features that aren't normally mentioned on product pages. For instance, while shopping for an 18"x24" cutting mat I compared the obvious (color, average customer reviews, price, etc.) to the not so obvious, like layers and thickness. First off, besides the larger size, I decided I needed a cutting mat with good contrast between the guidelines and the mat itself. Until I received this mat, I was using a smaller (6"x18") Fiskars mat for my cutting needs. It handled cuts of all types fine, but the size showed it's limitation very quickly, and the orange guidelines on the dark gray background made lining up the edges of items to be cut somewhat difficult.So after looking around at the various cutting mats available, it came down to this one, an Alvin and a Dhale. I ruled out the Alvin because I really didn't want a green mat. The dahle mats look and seem very nice, and have great reviews (in fact I have a black one on the way as well), but only the black one seemed suitable for my needs; it has a black background and light gray guidelines. The blue Dahle is nice, but I don't feel there's enough contrast between the background and the guidelines. A shame really, because blue is my favorite color. As for the transparent Dahle, they really need to give that one an overhaul, as there is nearly no contrast between the background and guidelines. Blue guidelines would make the transparent Dahle much more desirable, and more importantly, useful and functional.So after ruling out the Alvin, and blue and transparent Dahle mats, I ordered the X-Acto. Shipping was prompt, packaging was very sufficient for the item and the price was very good (ordered from shoplet). As for the cutting mat itself, it's absolutely fantastic. It's a nice light gray with light blue guidelines. The contrast is perfect. It's a 5 layer design, like most of the better brands. What really surprised me is the thickness. This cutting mat is twice that of my Fiskars.I am completely satisfied with my purchase. If you need a good, thick, reliable cutting mat, give the X-Acto brand a good look. My Fiskars has served me well, and still has a place in my workspace, but it's taking the bench while the X-Acto becomes my front runner.

Exactly as described. Mat has perfect lines for cutting fabric for quilting. Easy to read. Does not slip - stays in place. Well worth the price. If you need a new mat, this is my choice.

Going back a decade or two, the X-Acto brand mats were a different material than all the others. They had a softer, more silicone-like surface. Not anymore. This one has the same almost pebbled, kind of satin-ey surface as our Fiskar mats, which are the same as our recently-purchased no-name mat. The only difference we can see is the X-Acto is thicker. We're not sure what benefit that offers.There's nothing wrong with this mat at all, but there are less expensive alternatives that seem very, very similar.

X-Acto products are excellent. This cutting mat is sufficiently weighty that firm pressure with a mat knife will not slice through the cutting mat, which has happened with some other brands. I am very pleased with the price, the colour, and the size. The only downside, which was minor, was that it took a few weeks to get here.

I really liked it… but it warped all of a sudden. I can’t seem to flatten it. I’ve tried coiling and taping it down.. nothing. Not sure why it’s done this.

Bigger than I had originally thought but well made and sturdy product. Will probably outlast me, as I consider my hobbling to be light use. Would buy again
